SONY NWZ-A10 Series
I used a Samsung HS12YHA - fits straight in as a replacement to the existing 20GB drive - the HD5 will format it and you can then get on with filling it with ATRACs - it makes a great everyday player. Cheers, Andy- WalkingMan56

SONY NWZ-A10 Series
Looks good. I'm guessing the Japanese models will play ATRAC files but will have a Japanese-only interface?- WalkingMan56

The Unnecessary Impressions Thread: Cowon iAudio X5L
Also, not only can you replace the Hard Drive, but you can replace it with a larger hard drive - my HD5 has a 120GB drive and makes a great every-day player. Sonicstage (or X-App, if you don't mind a program in Japanese), is no real problem and the sound really is great. Cheers, Andy- WalkingMan56

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player
And shows "unknown artist" on the second line of each entry - as if there may be a tagging or tag-reading problem that they can't even get right for the PR shots - shows a really thorough and thought-out approach ;-) Cheers, Andy- WalkingMan56

Sony Walkman 'Japanese Versions' – Help for Dummies thread
Many thanks Now What for the very useful run-down of the dynamic playlist box - I would never have guessed the Match all / Match any radio buttons and that really is a brilliant piece of knowledge. There is a great deal of useful info there and I thank you very much for it. I have placed an...- WalkingMan56

Sony Walkman 'Japanese Versions' – Help for Dummies thread
I'm using X-app, too - it supports all my old Network Walkman players (NW-HD1 - NW-HD5, even the Viao Pocket!) and it's a proper, modern music manager. I have no Japanese at all - I cannot understand a single letter, I'm working out how it works by trial and error, so I have a question: I...- WalkingMan56

NEW Sony Walkman Z Series mini review!!!
Having formerly enjoyed this forum topic, I'm disappointed to see it reduced to its current state by what seems like simple trolling by one individual - I am not a natural poster on forums (indeed. I have a much smaller post count than the complainer) but I do like to read something enlightening...- WalkingMan56

NEW Sony Walkman Z Series mini review!!!
Quote: There are pics of the innards of the Walkman Z linked from this thread http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68564 - doesn't look like battery replacement should be impossible - just need a battery with the right voltage, size, capacity. Cheers, Andy- WalkingMan56

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Quote: For mine, yes - I found it as strange as you do, but thhat's the way it seems to be. If I charge my iRiver H120 and the E17 both fully and don't use them for a week, then switch them on the iRiver is still fully-charged and the E17 is dead-flat - yes, it is inconvenient...- WalkingMan56

Sony Walkman Z 1050 vs Ipod touch 5g
Definitely check it out - I had what I thought was a good player (an old IRiver H120 with a Fiio E17 DAC linked by optical) - the Walkman just blew it away, it's the best sounding player I've heard - I'm sure there are better ones but, for the $$$, you can't go wrong. Cheers, Andy- WalkingMan56

Sony NWZ-F806 mini review (& F-series player reviews / impressions / discussion)
A couple of weeks ago, I got a 32GB Z-1060 from the trading forum of Head-Fi and I absolutely love it - it has replaced my CF-modded iRiver H120 - optical-out - Fiio E17 DAC combo for all my listening sessions. I have a lot of music and I would like to get a 64GB version (I'd also like to...- WalkingMan56
