Balanced HD800 cable - looking for solutions
Instead of worrying about the cable, I would seriously consider buying a new amp to compliment the HD800- drlee27

The Beatles or The Stones? Cast your vote
The beatles are in a class by itself; the Stones should be compared to bands like L. Zeppelin, the Who, and maybe U2. -
The Beatles or The Stones? Cast your vote
The Beatles. No contest. Lennon & McCartney are much better songwriters than Jagger & Richard. The Stones were even singing Beatles' songs in the beginning. -

Best USB to SPDIF transport out there?
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone have any experiences with Empirical Audio's expensive offerings? Do they bring about audible or significant improvements?- drlee27

Anything else i can do to optimise my computer sound?
There are always more that you can try. For example, you can get more hardwares. If you really want to tweak the sound, you can get a USB to S/PDIF converter (eg, Trend UD10.1, off-ramp turbo2), connect it to another DAC which feeds the pico that is being used only as an amp!- drlee27

Unbalanced to balanced converters
They are inexpensive solutions that allow one to convert an unbalanced source to a balanced one. One example is the Art Cleanbox. Do they really work without degrading the sound quality?- drlee27

Subwoofer Recommendations
The A5's have adequate bass, subwoofer is not necessary. I pair the A2's with the Velodyne microvee, which might be out of your budget.- drlee27

help picking new speakers
I like small things. I used to have the A5's but they are too big for a computer set up IMO unless you listen at high volume levels and want room filling sound. The OP says space is a concern so A2, which I have now, should be a better choice. With a small subwoofer such as the microvee, the...- drlee27

The fifth beatle was Brian Epstein, the manager who made them famous. -

I actually prefer the A2 for near-field listening and its small size. I pair them with a Velodyne Microvee subwoofer and the sound is great!- drlee27

JenaLab recabled R10
It seems for certain Jena Labs will lose a lot of business now. But I am curious whether merchants such as ALO will also be affected. Ken uses JL wires in a lot of his mods and I wonder whether head-fi memebers will boycott the use of JL brand wires.- drlee27

JenaLab recabled R10
Assuming there was already damage to the headphone when JL received them. They said nothing but went ahead to repair them. Why they did not just stop and inform BF or send them back/decline the repair? Because of greed. They thought they could easily fix the defects and recable the headphones...- drlee27

Headphones are our hobby. If I want my headphones taken apart I would want someone like Alex to do the job, not someone from a big company like Jena Labs who just wants my money. Thanks to boilingfrog for sharing his story.- drlee27
