Apogee Groove Dac / Headphone Amp
Picked a Groove up today for my mobile edit rig.. So far so good. Form factor is great, but the buttons are actually quite stiff..like you need to hold the unit in your hand when pressing the buttons or you shake the table it's sitting on. Maybe they'll loosen up with time, but because (at least...- canyondust

CEntrance DACport HD
Not entirely useless. I routinely record or upconvert material at/to 192khz for pitch and time manipulation, as the results are better (then down convert back to 48khz) I'm seriously considering this little box for my laptop editing rig! :)- canyondust

FWIW, I park my iPhone less than a foot from my DACMINI and get no interference... In a specific spot. However, if I move my phone to a couple other locations around the DACMINI, it does catch the gsm signal... maybe some weird angle thing or whatnot... But most of the time it's 7-8 inches away...- canyondust

I just got my DACmini back from repair (volume pot replace) and I'm so glad to have it back. My mind is actually trying to convince me it sounds better than when I shipped it back... which is actually feasible if your volume pot is problematic... but it's far more likely I just got used to...- canyondust

I'd say try your dacmini on another computer (stock, no added things like foobar) and see what kind of gain you get. If its STILL really loud, either your unit isnt per normal spec, or you have very sensitive hearing :)- canyondust

I also have channel imbalance with my dacmini, but my headphones are 50ohms and not very sensitive. What headphones are you using with the dacmini? Having to reduce the gain digitally in 2 steps of -50% and -25% does seem too much. I have enjoyable playback at 9-10 o'clock with my software set...- canyondust

When you say you set the volume at 9 o clock, is that too loud on both headphones and the speaker system? If the volume is ok on the headphones, lower the gain on the input of the speaker system. If not, it sounds like there is gain being added in your software somewhere, but I don't know where...- canyondust

I too have the noisy volume pot... The kind fellows at Centrance told me to send it in to get fixed, but I just haven't had the time (I use the unit for work in an audio facility)... and I don't really want to part with it, because it RULES. I'm using it to drive LCD-2r2s, and wow.... what a...- canyondust

I received my Q-Audio cable this morning (1.5m black) and hooked it up to the LCD-2r2s, and.... I'm sure I don't have the ears of some of the more delicate listeners here, but I was surprised at how much it improved the sound quality of the LCD-2s over the supplied cable (I received the 4...- canyondust

I'm so loving my DacMini right now... I've taken it to a few studios now, and plug it straight into the optical out of their pro tools rigs. As a unit it's really quite light.... the DacMini and LCD-2 headphones are going to be my reference system for a long time to come I feel (and I have...- canyondust

I personally don't think there is much of a tilt either way with the DacMini... It's smooth, musical and fairly neutral in my opinion. I ordered the Q (1.5m length) for my LCD-2s, and I can't wait for their arrival. My LCD-2v2s arrived about a month ago... the felt on the outside of the right driver (just behind the outside grill) is off-centre, and I have a big head so these give me a big of a headache after a day of listening.
