You still need the gnd connected (shared) with the PC as USB signals need a reference.

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

Anyone tried increasing the pad thickness?   Cut two doughnut shaped pieces out of an old mouse pad and put them between the pads of the headphone and my ears. There is marked improvement: more 3D....

Quote: I use a leather band I cut (a flexible belt would work too) and affixed it by replacing the screws that holds the cups to the band with longer screws. The band needs to be flexible enough to adjust well to the contour of your head

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

Quote: To me, the biggest adjustment was "time in your head". Moving from hd580 to these headphones at first they didn't sound right. Now moving from the T50RP to the HD580, the HD580 doesn't sound right. By looking at the published response charts of the T50RP, they have a valley at 5...

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

New owner of the TP50. I am happy with the bass. Wish to only increase treble a bit.   I found this in Musician Friends website: "Tips: If anyone feels that T50RP has inadequate treble, just rise the cushions by 6mm thicker (actually for pop style sound I stick the DT880 cushion on it)...

    A TREAD sized regulator - the r1

Very nice project. What is the voltage headroom required to keep Q1 going? (the voltage headroom after R3) Also what are the simulations results?   Thanks

    Fiio D3

Hello Mr. feiao,   I must congratulate your company for producing quality products at low cost... At first I thought you were using the mux capability of the wm8805, but you are using the chip in hardware mode, so the 8804 will be equally good for your application.   May I suggest you...

    Fiio D3

I got one and took a peek inside (I have not listened it it yet :-)). I must say this is a steal at $30. The WM8805 is a top-end device for spdif receiver. Good engineering all throughout. Power is also very good with good filtering and a simple, yet low noise shunt zener regulator...

    BitPerfect (was: Audirvana Alternatives)

Being an exclusive access device and enforcing no oversampling, does this allow arbitrary native bitrate playback? In other words, if I have a 44.1K and 96K song in the library, would this allow the playback of the 44.1K song at 44.1K sample rate and the 96K song at 96K playback automatically...

High quality sound from iTunes (running on PC) via USB DAC

If you are using Windows 7, it supports WASAPI exclusive. Unfortunately iTunes does not support WASAPI exclusive, (only shared mode). But you can try something like "musicbee" that supports exclusive mode to see if this is the problem.

    Twisted Pear Audio Opus DAC

Quote: Yes, you can run OPUS, Metro and SPDIF receiver out of a single LCDPS. One side powers the digital section of OPUS, Metro and SPDIF board, the other side of LCDPS powers the analog section of OPUS   I would recommend that you get the basic set up running first (SPDIF receiver...

Which one of these two USB DACs?

The TB uses a c-media device The ebay device uses PCM2704 The Behringer UCA202 uses PCM 2902   The PCM2704 has the better specs of the 3 chips. I would buy the ebay thing. You will have a reference point before upgrading to more expensive devices...

    VS1053 Simple 'MP3' Player?

I have a Seeedstudion vs1053 board which I plan to drive with Arduino. The plan (when It get a chance to do it) was to get the basic board going with Arduino and use I2S to an OPUS DAC (WM8741). The VS1053 outputs at 16bit. The Master clock originates from the vs1053.   The current crystal...

Which DIY DAC? (Opus? Buffalo? Any other contenders?)

Think of it this way:   Minimum working OPUS for spdif (without PS) is OPUS DAC plus OPUS receiver =$150 Minimum working Buffalo II (without PS) is just the Buffalo II board = $250   So for $100 more you get a much better clock, much better local regulators and bypass capacitors, a...

    Twisted Pear Audio Opus DAC

I thought they were 3 watt resistors.   Measure the voltage across the resistor and calculate power dissipation: P=VI; V=IR. P=VV/R. V in volts, R in ohms. If that is less than 3, then you are safe.
