Using IEM's with a home stereo safe?

Ah excellent, thank you for taking the time to answer that for me. I was a bit worried about plugging such tiny devices into a big old amps headphone out - I'll take care with the volume! I am reading about impedance matching now, hopefully I'll get my head around it soon :)

Using IEM's with a home stereo safe?

Can using IEM's (via a 3.5mm -> 6.3mm adapter) with the headphone socket (6.3mm) on a home stereo damage the IEM's? :confused_face(1): If so, will keeping the volume to a sensible level prevent damage?

    SansaClip+ Rockbox Impressions thread

I have not had any similar problems myself, it is damage to IEM's that I am mainly concerned about - but porthillsbomber has pretty much convinced me that the DC voltage during pause is not going to cause any damage.   I am yet to have a play with the crossfading, I'll give it a go tomorrow...

    Clip+ DC offset

Cheers porthillsbomber, that gives me a lot more confidence to continue using rockbox! (My IE-8's have been in 'stasis' since finding this thread).   So basically, you don't see any risk of coil overheat or mechanical diaphragm/membrane damage due to the 200+ mV DC with 16 Ohm impedance...

    SansaClip+ Rockbox Impressions thread

Hi All,   In reference to this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/528329/clip-dc-offset   I am concerned about continuing to use rockbox with my Sennheiser IE-8's (Hoping I'am being overly paranoid).   Has anyone here experienced any damage to their IEM's using rockbox with...

    Clip+ DC offset

Would 16 Ohm Sennheiser IE-8's be considered 'very low' in this particular situation?   Thanks again for shining some light on this for me, I've been worrying about it all night!   Quote:

    Clip+ DC offset

porthillsbomber,   Is the following statement on the Flyspray bug report still valid?   Quote:

    Clip+ DC offset

Thanks for that, it is a welcome relief! I'm glad you seem happy to continue using rockbox on your clip+!   I know very little about this sort of thing - which makes me very tempted to switch back to OF for peace of mind.  Do you think that is an overreaction?   Quote:

    Clip+ DC offset

I am currently experiencing that horrible sinking feeling..   I'm using a Clip+ and a new pair of Sennheiser IE-8's (16-Ohm), I run rockbox with fade to pause enabled and often hear the pause/unpause squeak.   Is it possible that I have already damaged these IEM's? How much might I have...

Can Dynamic Driver IEM's be damaged by proximity to strong magnets?

Thanks Soundmangt4, I'll be keeping them well away from any direct contact with large magnets!  It's the small but powerful Neodymium magnets that concern me, they seem to be everywhere - I guess they are nothing in comparison to direct contact with a large driver though!

Can Dynamic Driver IEM's be damaged by proximity to strong magnets?

Hi All,   My first post here! You guys have proven vital in helping me make an informed choice on the best DAP & IEM's for me to purchase!   I've gone with a rockbox'd Sansa Clip+ and a pair of Sennheiser IE-8's, and I am extremely impressed with the result   Now that I've got some...
