School here got out for winter break last week.  I know my girlfriend only had one final, and she was stoked about that.   I remember last year, we got 5 feet of snow in like a 36 hour period, and that canceled finals for the first semester.   Good luck.

Back up to 8GB of RAM?   What's the price difference between a 4 and 8GB kit?  Honestly, RAM doesn't add much to gaming experience, maybe 2-3 fps.  If you're worried about budget, that's where I would cut it a bit.

If you do get a UPS, make sure you get one with Auto Shutdown software.  It will take away one USB port and the ethernet iirc, but it's a cool feature.  If you can't get to your computer and there's a power outage, it will automatically shut it down when there's x amount of time on the battery...
