Is there any sonic benefit to pairing a DAC/Amp with a DAP via USB output? I'm pretty confident that it just renders the DAP a transport when you bypass its internal DAC, and the sonic signature is then just that of the external DAC but I'm curious if others see it differently.

I have a Chord Anni (no sub out) with ATC SCM7 speakers (which have biwire terminals). Can I run speaker cable from the binding posts on the ATCs to the speaker level inputs on the back of a sub to add a sub to the system?
