    That's a good call, sorry for the ambiguity.  Anyhow, I did get a response suggesting a L/R speaker test and that confirmed my notion, they are wired backwards.  Thanks though!

    Yeah I triple checked. Wires are in the correct ears for the 650s. Matched the L/R markings with the markings on the headphones themselves. It seems like such an egregious error if the t51s are wired backwards... while I'm sure it is not common, is that not unheard of though?

    Yep, the 650s do but they are properly connected, even the cables indicate Left vs Right
