My computer audio setup at work. I have the NFB-10ES camoflaged with paper and a woolly hat to reduce it's ostentatiousness :0)- Jimmythemook

Audio-gd NFB-10
Quote: Sorry, yeah I meant the M1 DAC. We demo'ed it with the M1 HPA amp. Overall I thought it had quite a good sound but I felt it was a little flat and lifeless. The NFB-10ES just has amazing depth and vibrancy that the Music Fidelity pairing couldn't match no matter what expensive IC's...- Jimmythemook

Audio-gd NFB-10
Quote: Yeah, I must've got lucky. I rang up Ampcity on Friday and they had one left so I bought it and collected it on Saturday. Very glad I did! I'd no idea how difficult it appears to be to get hold of them. It's a lovely device, the sound is outstanding. I'd tested the Music Fidelity...- Jimmythemook

Review: Anedio D1 DAC - my new reference DAC
In case anybody is interested, I emailed Anedio about this and they said they're hoping to be able to do international delivery in one or two weeks time. So that's handy:)- Jimmythemook

Review: Anedio D1 DAC - my new reference DAC
Yeah possibly, though I imagine one would get stung with customs either way and I doubt shipping costs would be that much cheaper done through Anedio. For me it just comes down to whether there'd be any problems plugging it into the wall or if it needs a convertor.- Jimmythemook

Comfortable closed can recommendations
I've test-drived both the dt770 and D2000 in the workplace. Well, the dt770 are on the face of it are very light cans with that soft velour padding. But in my experience they don't have the greatest sound isolation and the padding is a little on the thin side so there's a slight extra...- Jimmythemook

Your favourite headphone experience yet.
My favourite headphone experience was the first time I heard Ludwig Streicher performing a Bottesini double bass concerto while trying out my new thunderpants headphones for the first time. Breathtaking doesn't even begin to describe how amazing and emotional it sounded. I could feel the attack...- Jimmythemook

Difference between HRT Music Streamer II and II+
Second this, I also have the Music Streamer II+. It has a lovely, detailed expansive sound compared to my previous DAC (e7) I have it connected to a M-Stage amp, and the sound from my thunderpants is just wonderful. Quote:- Jimmythemook

[Review] EQu parametric EQ for the iPodtouch/iPhone/iPad
I gave this app a go, it's great! Especially with older 80's recordings like Peter Gabriel or Talk Talk, just adds a bit of full bodied juice to the slightly thin sound production. The only thing I would say that it falls down on is the sound gets momentarily choppy when multi-tasking between...- Jimmythemook

The Mighty Thunderpants - initial impressions.. LOTS of them
Hi, I'd just like to bump this thread to say I recently bought a pair of thunderpants from Smeggy. He was great to deal with and the phones arrived without a problem. They really do sound fantastic, lovely full bodied sound with great separation of instruments and a wide soundstage. The sound...- Jimmythemook

HiFiMAN 602: Talk about your initial impressions and specs
Quote: I'd agree it's unrealistic to expect night and day types of vast improvement. It really comes down to what an end user considers value for money in terms of the sound quality and the usability and convenience of the device. For me it's about justifying the purchase of a...- Jimmythemook

HiFiMAN 602: Talk about your initial impressions and specs

HiFiMAN 602: Talk about your initial impressions and specs
I don't know, for that kind of cash with it's chunky size and basic UI, it ought to be a significant leap in quality. I appreciate the idea though, a bespoke audiophile DAP is something I've been looking to find for a long time.- Jimmythemook

HiFiMAN 602: Talk about your initial impressions and specs
Quote: Currently alternating between sony x1060 and iphone 3gs with sennheiser IE8's. I'm thinking instead it would be better value just getting a little amp and LO lead to upgrade the sound on the 3gs and keeping the nice UI. I was very excited about this and yes, I know I can...- Jimmythemook

HiFiMAN 602: Talk about your initial impressions and specs
Well, I think I'll be cancelling my preorder. By the look of the impressions coming in I don't think the upgrade justifies the price and usability/portability issues. Not sure I can be arsed with the whole returning it in the post business either. Jumping the gun? Maybe..- Jimmythemook
