Amp <100$ to go with a modded K81/518
I've recently purchased a pair of AKG K518LE's. These being my first entry level cans, I'm quite happy with their performance. The sound was on the darker/bassier side of things as I've previously read all over the place, so I've made some modifications. I've removed foam paddings and done the...- xyphe

Official K-81 DJ thread
Quote: hey trolol, try the blu tack mod, it made a noticeable difference for me: better mids and less boomy bass. pinch and pull the pleather pad away from the can to remove it. you will then see 3 screws, loosen them all then gently pull the top side upwards. nothing holds it attached...- xyphe

Samsung vs Sony vs iRiver models
All comparison threads are very old, dating as far as '05, so I don't really know what models are good in todays market. Anything decent from Samsung lately?- xyphe

Samsung vs Sony vs iRiver models
I'm planning to buy a new DAP to go with a pair of soon-to-be-mine Senn HD25-1's. I will use them unamped and I like my music loud. After a bit of digging around I've narrowed it down to a couple of choices: - Samsung P3 and T9 (and similar models) - iRiver Clix2 and E10 (although E10...- xyphe

Senn HD25-1 vs ATH M50
I've decided to go for HD25-1's. I've also just discovered FiiO E1, which looks very affordable. Do you think it'll be a nice addition to my portable setup? Anyone tried it with HD25-1s?- xyphe

Senn HD25-1 vs ATH M50
I'm looking to buy a full sized headphone rather than IEMs. I've read that TMA-1's are not very good with preventing sound leaks, I'll be using this pair in public transport fairly often, and I like my music loud. HD25-1 looks promising but I'm not sure whether M50's are better in sound...- xyphe

Senn HD25-1 vs ATH M50
After a lot of searching, I'm about to buy a pair of either of these. I'll be using them with my iPod, no amps. I listen to every kind of music from blues to indie pop to rap and I want a good all-rounder. Isolation (that is, leaking sound to outside) is very important too. Can someone help me...- xyphe

Closed cans under $150 to use with a FiiO amp on iPod
I've also read that SRH750DJs have a very good sound quality and it looks very portable. The downside is I didn't read good things about comfortability and isolation. Can someone confirm this? Is it really uncomfortable and does it leak a lot of sound?- xyphe

Closed cans under $150 to use with a FiiO amp on iPod
You are right shake, cable length always made me a little uncomfortable about the M50 and I don't want the coiled one to go under my shirt, haha. What can you say about the mids and highs of Denon 1001?- xyphe

Closed cans under $150 to use with a FiiO amp on iPod
I'd like to step into the audiophile world and I need your help. I'm planning to buy a pair of closed cans and a tiny amp (FiiO seems to be the best in this field, correct me if I'm wrong). I'm a student so if I'm not pleased with my portable setup, I'll have to wait a long time before I can...- xyphe
