So I ended up with some HD650's...

A crack is barely within my budget, but would it be worth anything without a dac?

So I ended up with some HD650's...

Thanks everyone for your comments and help. I think I'm going to go for a dac/amp combo like the aune or ef2a and see how it goes from there

So I ended up with some HD650's...

Quote: That's what I hear, which is why I'm asking if maybe a dac would be a better investment for now.

So I ended up with some HD650's...

I have decent soldering skills, and access to some nice equipment. So a diy route is certainly possible, particularly regarding the amp as I haven't done smd work before.    I haven't heard of the Aune stuff before, but is it normal for them to have 5-6 listings for what appears to be the...

    Shure se215s vs RE-zeros

Expect much better highs and more clarity from the RE0 and deeper bass (not necessarily MORE bass, though). And expect better build quality and isolation from the shures.

    Shure E2C vs RE0 vs SR80i vs...?

I've had a pair of shure se210's which I think are very similar to the E2C and a pair of RE0s. I found the RE0 to be an improvement in almost every way sonically, but a major step back in build quality, microphonics and isolation. Because of the build quality I find the RE0s difficult to...

So I ended up with some HD650's...

Essentially on a whim I just got some HD650's, and they sound fantastic. The only problem is that I wasn't planning on getting any high end headphones and don't have the gear in place to make them sing. As compared to the high end setup that I auditioned them on, they sound very veiled and the...

Most Grado like Closed Headphone: forward midrange

i agree with the hd25, sounds very much like my ms1 but less sharp and open and with better bass

    Which headphones should i get?

Quote: The hd25's isolate almost as much, if not more than, iems, I've worn mine on a few plane trips and can enjoy music, but the engine rumble still leaks through a bit. IF you want to get rid of that I'm guessing you'd probably need active noise cancellation

    Sennheiser Repair

So a red bull burst in my bag and drenched my hd25's, which now no longer work. Has anyone had experience with sending headphones in for repair and the costs associated with it?

Senn HD 25-1 II vs. MS-1i?

I can attest to the fact that the signatures of the two are pretty similar. I find the MS1i's have a much... sharper sound in that the music really kicks. I prefer them for this reason. That said, the HD25s are extremely portable, built like a tank, closed and isolate well and overall just well...

    Looking for portable headphones $200

I have been listening to the hd25-1 for a while now. one thing thats mentioned around that i didn't really believe is how well they isolate. to me they isolate about as well as my re0's, which is pretty great for a headphone. wrt to iems, theres a lot less noise due to cable bumping on them than...

Broken RE0's and bad luck with IEM's

I'm fairly sure mine was the driver too. the right ear just up and stopped working abruptly. my shure's cable died, and i knew it was dying for weeks before with sound fading in and out depending on the cable orientation.

Broken RE0's and bad luck with IEM's

Today my RE0's broke. The right earphone plays no sound at all, wobbling the cable around doesn't give any change and the entire unit is in like new condition as far as I can see. I've treated them pretty good, but a few times the earphones have clapped together when i temporarily take them out...

Alessandro Music Series MS1 FAN CLUB!

i'm on a student budget, these $110 phones are going to be treated like $1000 phones for the foreseeable future. I might look into that screw lock + a stand though. Thanks for the input!

Alessandro Music Series MS1 FAN CLUB!

Just got my MS-1i's in the mail yesterday, ordered with paypal a week ago in Canada, no email confirmations and was just wondering if I should give them a call. No duty or anything, just showed up at the door. As my first headphone a few things stood out: 1. I think the comfort issue is way...
