My first pair, suggestions? (feed PC Revo 5.1)

Yeah i read the review thread on the 555's seem fairly resonable for all round (and $200 AUD locally not too bad) Sound would be much better than using the Revo i'd say than the AVR as AVR is full digital, it uses TI Equibit amp modules, (same as TacT gear) and as such for digital sources...

My first pair, suggestions? (feed PC Revo 5.1)

Looking at a pair of cans for something different. Currently have nothing and have not owned anything decent. My current setup is a HT one (ie loudspeakers), source is a HTPC with MAudio Revo 5.1 feed SPDIF to a Panny XR45 full digital AVR (see AVS, Audiocircle etc on how impressive this...

    EMU0404 or M-Audio Revolution 7.1??

What about the Revo 5.1? Tis superior to the 7.1 (in spec/sound/DAC's etc) and cheaper. (ie its 8ch DAC (only 6ch used) is superior to the 2ch "1/2 decent" DAC on the 7.1, but available on all channels, like the Chaintech the 7.1 has cheap poorer DAC on the additional channels, the 5.1...

    Computer CD transport wear?

Maybe in an "ibook" its a concern for replacement could be of expense. But in a normal PC a CDRom drive or DVDRom for that matter is cheap as chips

    DVD Audio on PC?

ooooh, thats sound cool...... but i guess for only set top players? could such not be achieved in a PC with software? I mean it is software that decodes it to PCM for output. I've read a few peoples comments (other boards) about some 2ch rare 24/96 DAB (or DCD, DBD.... ahh can't member)...

    Question on ASIO4ALL

I use ASIO4ALL with my Maudio Revo 5.1 to get bit perfect playback using JRiver Media Center I feed SPDIF from the PC to a Full Digital Reciever. I have to "checK" the "Force 16bit Samples (Buggy WDM driver work around)" in ASIO4ALL to get this to work My question is what does this do...

    DVD Audio on PC?

As "upsampled" 2ch CD can be sent as 24/192 over standard SPDIF is there any reason 2ch 24/192 DVD-A can't? .......... oh propably copy crap

    E-MU 1212 vs. 0404 for Transport Only

Good digital out card (how is my revo 5.1)

Ahh sounds good........ i'll upgrade my COAX connect (from a TV video lead haha) Will RG6 Quad Shield Coax (as used in TV installs for DTV) work well? Also 24/192 2ch PCM does pass.... my receiver "detects" it as such its just got gltiches due to ASIO4all i think

Good digital out card (how is my revo 5.1)

Wondering what the better cards with SPDIF or TOSLINK output are for both PCM DD and DTS Oh also able to pass ASIO 24/192 PCM would be good. I have a Revo 5.1 currently..... has coax out........ wondering how good it is? (note i have to use ASIO4ALL to get KS using JRiver Media Center)

    Quality Digital Coax Connect

Having just spent weeks sourcing a reciever upgrade for my Denon 1602 running Quad 12L's...... after home demos of Denon 3805, Arcam AVR300 etc and not being happy i spent 20% and 15% repectively of the cost on a Panasonic XR45. All i can say is WOW!!!! Where i struggled to hear a difference...

    1212M What DAC's are used?

Yep thats the one. I found the oposite in vocals (ie more full) compared to some Denon source using Burr Brown DAC's ........ though there are other contributing factors. The AKM sound to me is closer to the burr brown sound i find?

    M-Audio revolution 5.1

So the Revo 5.1 "may" sound similar to the EMU 0404??? Same DAC? (or have i read "miss information" ..... tis off the forum )

    1212M What DAC's are used?

Yes i can use the Revo for SPDIF pass duties.... though space is at a premium so i "could" use the onboard CMedia for this...... hmmm Just really do wonder how it "sound"s compare to the Revo 5.1

    1212M What DAC's are used?

Im wondering what DAC's are used on a 1212M. Again i turn to you headphone guys (and gals?) for an answer to a non headphone question........ just when it comes to PC sound cards this forum seems to be the most knowledgable. I am getting an new AV reciever for my HT setup. (speakers are...

    M-Audio Revolution 5.1?

    M-Audio Revolution 5.1?

The Revo 5.1 has a better 8ch DAC than the 7.1 which has a decent 2ch dac used in combo with a crappier 6ch DAC See here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...15#post4208415 "Revo 5.1 uses a single 8-channel DAC (AKM-4358VQ) with good specs (112 dB DR/SN)." Apparnetly 2 of the channels...

HTPC = head hurt. I just bought a component 1080i dvd player from Amazon.com sale.

Few tips. HTPC can be great........but it can be a headache Forget about using PowerDVD, or even there codecs. Use Zoomplayer 4.02 (or TheaterTek if u don't want as many options) Get WinDVD codecs.....OR for better PQ Elecard codecs Install FFDShow Install ReClock The above combo...

    Soundcard options (HT and 2ch)

Yep, they are very good options for 2ch CD source only..... but become very limiting for other uses and future formats (well current i guess DVD-A) Thats why i've bit the bullet, ordered a Revo 5.1. From what i have read it has a single 8ch AKM DAC (2 ch not used) that is superior to the...

    Soundcard options (HT and 2ch)

that is correct from what research i have done........yes it does seem silly. add to that apparently it cannot accept anything higher than 48khz from internal PC sources/software with its WDM drivers.......which means that 96 and 192khz DVD-A even on 2ch's is no acheivable (ie using WinDVD 6...
