I think if your phone is set to "loud" and you unlock it, it will make the sound across the 5K, and thus turning down the volume on the computer to "focus" the sound on the phone. I typically disconnect my phone from my 5K when using it in DAC mode, or you could also silence your phone or...

Thanks! Yes, however I leave it in "Car Mode" which does not charge the battery, and will turn it on/off with the PC. Like you mentioned, I don't want to charge the battery all the time while its sitting there 24/7.

Ah ok. Thanks for that link. Totally misunderstood the feature, lol. I wouldn't have used the active noise canceling feature anyway, but it just would have been cool to have. I rarely use the mic on these Bluetooth dongles (ES100, BTR5, etc) so that feature won't really apply to me, but that's ok.

I read in the feature set that there is active noise canceling on the device? Has anyone tried out that feature? Does it work like a typical over the ear noise cancelation, or am I misunderstanding the feature entirely? lol

Hey guys, I just wanted to share a video I made quickly comparing the new BTR5 and the ES100. It's not an in depth review of each or anything, just sharing my thoughts on each.

Negative, doesn't work with that either. I think you need 5v in the USB bus for the controller inside the ES100 to turn on and say "hey, a PC is connected, turn on DAC mode" or whatever.

I think I see what you're saying now after I thought about it. Isolate the ES100, instead of the USB hub. I'll try it here in a bit and post back.

No I can't get any devices to read off the usb hub when going from the hub to the PC. I don't want any voltage from the PC to touch the ES100.

Quick update, I just made a quick "data only" usb cable by putting a piece of electrical tape over the Vcc pin on the usb plug going from the PC to the powered hub, and it isn't recognizing anything on the hub. It's a 3.0 hub, I tried it on a 2.0 and 3.0 port on the PC. Not sure if this is going...
