Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

Thanks for that. I've just realised my system volume was quiet low, despite my iTunes volume being at max. I do wonder how I make it through the day sometimes

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

Having a slight issue with my MKIII. I've got my Mac on full volume, and the MKIII on about 8/10 and it still isn't terribly loud. I've got the switches set to ON/OFF to match my DT990-250. Should I crank the gain up?

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

Quick question, how do you change the tubes? Firm tug? Do they need biasing after? Thanks

Little Dot MKIII - Right channel louder than left

Nevermind. Just realised I had the gain switches set incorrectly!

Little Dot MKIII - Right channel louder than left

Thanks for that. How do I take the tubes out? Do I need to rebias them after?

Little Dot MKIII - Right channel louder than left

Hi all,   Not sure what the problem is here, could one of the tubes be bad/dying?   I've done a fair bit of troubleshooting and it's definitely the amp.   As a side note, does the MKIII need biasing when the tubes are changed?   Any help is appreciated.   Thanks.

    Can't hear a difference :(

Thanks for all the replies. I was ready to chuck in the towel and stick with what I've got, even asked fora refund but today I ordered the DT990s 250Ohm. Hoping this will improve the situation. They are coming tomorrow so I'll report back. If I still can't tell a difference, I'm giving in...

    Can't hear a difference :(

Thanks for the reply. So my headphones are the reason really? Do you think they'll be much difference after some burn in of the tubes? It was always my intention to buy different headphones, just wasn't expecting to so quickly!

    Can't hear a difference :(

Hi all, In my first voyage into better sound, I just took delivery of a Little Dot MKIII. I'm using this with my Mac Mini and HD448's. After a couple of hours of use, I'm quiet embarrassed to say that I can't tell a difference! I've done some quick A-B testing, using a splitter, and the only...

    Minimum requirements for 192/24

Thanks again for the reply. I've just ordered the MKIII and I'll see how I get on. I do plan on getting the LD DAC and probably some HD650s, but that will be a few months off. Just gotta wait for delivery now!

    Minimum requirements for 192/24

Good to hear that! I was contemplating this combo a few months back too but the Teac DAC caught my attention. So you think my 'phones are good enough? They sound okay to me, could do with a little more clarity, wider soundstage but okay for listening in noisy places. I can always keep the...

    Minimum requirements for 192/24

Thanks again for the reply. Well, I think I'd like to buy things in stages, budget willing, rather than blow a load on everything at once. The Little Dot MKIII looks like a beautiful amp and gets great reviews. Perhaps pair this with the Little Dot DAC and some HD650's? I could get the amp...

    Minimum requirements for 192/24

Thanks for the reply. I've not heard any hi-res audio and I'm curious more than anything. Specifically, I'd like to listen to the 24/96 versions of Smashing Pumpkins remasters, as well as others (Rush's new album, Megadeth's 13, etc). Any recommendation for a noob? Initially thinking of a...

    Minimum requirements for 192/24

Hi all, I want to get into hi res audio but I don't want to spend an arm and leg. I'm considering the Teac UD01 DAC/amp combo (may have got the model number wrong). Would this, coupled with some nice headphones (just using Senn HD448 at present) give me all I need to hear an appreciable...

Noob Questions (Little Dot Tube Amp and DAC)

Hi all,   I'm looking to get myself a nice little amp and DAC. The Little Dot MKIII and Little Dot DAC I caught my attention and seems pretty well regarded.   Will they pair together okay?   Also, I have some Sennheiser HD448s just for outdoor use, will these go well with the Little...

MacBook Air/Apple TV3 DAC and AMP

Hi all,   So I'm selling my AV receiver and 5.1 surround speakers in favour of a more personal set-up! I'm tired of looking at speakers around my living room, they're an eye-sore. Anyways...   I have an Apple TV 3 and a MacBook Air that I'd like to use as the sources and I'm thinking of...

    Lack of power causing distortion?

Just a quick bump and to add that I'm using the headphone out and not a LOD, if that would make a difference.

    Lack of power causing distortion?

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread. Anyways, I have since bought a Penguin Royal amp.  Whilst cheap and cheerful, it got decent reviews and allowed me to dip my toes into the amp world. I've done some quick testing and this amp doesn't fix the distortion problem, so I'm thinking...

    Lack of power causing distortion?

Thanks for that. I know the little Fiios aren't great but they are small and compact. Will they help in this situation? Or can you suggest something equally as compact? Thanks

    Lack of power causing distortion?

Hi all, Just got my Sennheiser HD448's. Still burning them in but there appears to be a lot of distortion on them. In fact, all my earphones and headphones suffer from this to a certain degree. Also, doesn't seem to be my source, it happened on all my previous iPhones, currently using the 4...
