Hifiman HM901, AK380 or Lotoo Paw Gold...Help me decide
Hello Everyone! I'm looking for a new high end dap and have so far narrowed it down to the three listed in the thread title. Though I'm open to be convinced if there's another equal choice out there. I tend to like more of an analytical sound over a warm signature. The dap doesn't have to have...- wantmyf1

Is there any other bassy iems like the hippo vb?
I don't know if they're up to the amount of bass the Hippo's deliver as I've never heard the Hippo's but the Sennheiser IE8's have a healthy amount of bass.- wantmyf1

SONY XBA-4 vs new XBA-40?
I'll give this thread a bump as I too would like to know if there is any difference in the actual sound between the two. I'm now pretty convinced not to get the XBA-4 due to frequent mentions of tonal incoherence, harsh/metallic treble and an unnatural tinge to the mids. I know that they respond...- wantmyf1

[ REVIEW / COMPARISON ] Two Flagships Pass in the Night: Sony XBA-4 Review VS the MDR-EX1000 [Updated with 7550 and XBA-40!]
Quote: Well, I listened to them for a few hours today so I thought I'd share a few quick initial impressions. They are a good little unit and probably the best I've heard for the price I got them at ($50). They are the most comfortable IEM I've ever worn and I have the JH13s. ...- wantmyf1

I'm a little late to this party but I just wanted to say that you provided a brilliant review, a_recording! Not only did you provide a lot of solid and easy to understand information it was also well and entertainingly written. Despite the length it never grew tiresome. Stellar job! I just...- wantmyf1

For any Canucks who find their way here Futureshop has the Sony XBA-1 for $49.99. $30 off a pretty positively reviewed entry IEM. I'm curious about the XBA line so I picked up my pair today.- wantmyf1

JVC Fxt90 vs Vsonic GR07 vs V-Moda M-80
I just got my set today. I saw them on the Futureshop website and thought they were intriguing so I've given them a try. I also paid only $60. So far I think they are a fantastic IEM. I would be impressed with them no matter what but considering the price I paid they are one of the most...- wantmyf1

Is this portable amp a winner?
Honestly, if it were me I'd be looking for something a bit more established. And I'd be searching the FS forums here or other audiophiles sites you may know of. Something like the Meier Audio Headsix or the iBasso T3 will clock in at around the $100 mark (not too much more than your eBay amp)...- wantmyf1

Comedy with the most quotables.. What is yours?
For me it's anything Monty Python. One of my favourites is from "The Life of Brian" which also happens to be my favourite comedy movie. "I'm not the Messiah!" "Well I say you are Lord, and I should know, I've followed a few" From the sermon on the mount scene: "I think it...- wantmyf1

Looking for new headphones
Not trying to sell the SE530 but I never had a problem with the cable. I also found the 530 to be more comfortable especially with the olive tips. Though the IE8 was also pretty comfortable.- wantmyf1

Poll: How do you wear yours?
Over the ears and down the front for me. I find that if I have them down my back and I have a jacket on my ears/IEMs really get pulled. So I worry less about have them break with the cable going down the front.- wantmyf1

Looking for new headphones
Don't worry about the English, it's plenty good enough. I have owned both the SE530 and IE8 and it depends on what you like and what you listen to. But just generally: The SE530's strength is its mid. Voices and acoustic guitars sound fantastic with it. But it lacks on the upper end and...- wantmyf1

How to stop my friends from buying skullcandies
I agree with almost everybody else here and let them listen to yours. If that doesn't convince them then let them buy their SCs. Believe it or not a headphone's sound is not as important to everyone else as it is to us. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss!- wantmyf1

Monster Pro Gold special at Dell.com?
I can't say if the differences is between the two are enough that you would want to get the Turbines or not, but I preferred the Pro Turbines. I found them to be much better balanced overall which is what I prefer. But if you prefer your music a little bassier than stick with the IE8s.- wantmyf1

I'm looking for some headphones and I'm new to the game.
I'll throw in a vote for the Audio-Technica ESW9s. You'll be able to find them for probably less than $200 used. I've gone to customs but if I hadn't I'd still have my ESW9. Quite close to a neutral sound with a little bump in the upper bass. Gorgeous looking headphone with wood cups...- wantmyf1

Get me into jazz
I agree about Diana Krall. I've long maintained that it she wasn't a tall blonde woman we never would have heard of her. Another ominuous name but a great, modern band in the jazz genre is: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Not much improvisation and great upbeat tunes. I've had numerous jazz... -
What's the difference between a $300 amp and a $1200 one????
Are there distinguishable differences between a $300 and a $1200 amp? For the most part, absolutely. Whether those differences are worth the extra cost of admission is something only you as a buyer can decide.- wantmyf1
