so the x10's and x5's really don't improve much with an amp whereas something like the custom 3's would?

I have a pair of custom 3's that are my main headphones. I actually bought both a pair of x5's and custom 3's at the same time and never even bothered to open up the x5's.. I'll probably be listing those on head-fi shortly.

it's possible, but I really like the way the customs form around your ear without looking obnoxious. I have a tendency to push iems too deep and this prevents me from doing so.

I already purchased a set of custom 3s but I may actually pick up a pair of the hd-25s as well. so they don't need an amp to sound good with an ipod?

I really like the custom 3s, other than the microphonics associated with the upper cord I really don't have a problem with them. definitely comfortable.

I agree, I just picked up a pair and while the sound is above par for the price range, the microphonics from the upper cord are incredibly annoying

The denons were my first real look into decent iems. I have no idea if I prefer their sound signature or dynamic drivers to anything else. In this latest search for the perfect head/earphones I wanted something that had excellent sound quality, some isolation, and allowed me to hear each...
