So if I got an amp and line out dock for my iPod Classic, would there even be a need for a DAC?

  I guess that's what I'm asking.  Am I better of with the iPod Video/amp/dac or PC with a good sound card/amp?  Or yet even my HT preamp.

I get the ground loop hum in my system as well, but I have satellite TV. But when I disconnect the coax cables from my Directv DVR (two tuners), the hum doesn't go away, so does that mean the satellite TV is not the culprit?

What about the A700's which appear to be a closed version of the AD700?
