I've been tossing around the idea of putting together a decent headphone system for work. Basically: USB -> TOS/SPDIF converter -> DAC -> amp -> headphones In terms of the DAC it would have to be small and cheap... only thing that comes to mind is a used Audio Alchmey or maybe a Channel...

I tried to do a search of the forums for this info, but 580/650 seem to be bad keywords.. anyway. Anyone have any experience replacing the 580 cables with the 650? Do they fit? Is it an improvement? thanks! mike

I've got the very original Headroom Supreme amp, probably dates back to the mid 90s.. its been doing an excellent job powering my HD580, but I VERY curious as to how it would compare to the relatively inexpensive opamp based amps out there.. like the Headsave. Any thoughts? thanks! mike
