Review by 'priest' on item 'Denon AH-D7100 Music Maniac'
When I purchased these, I did so on a lark. Slowly, over the last year, I have more or less stopped listening to anything else, and I have dozens of headphones. Unlike many on Head-Fi, I find these superior to the prior generation of Denons. The soundstage is of course limited, but about average...- priest

^That blog is a trip! Most extensive headphone collection in the world, as far as I am aware. ATHFan, the headphone amp sounds interesting. And the front end is obviously one of the best in the world, if not the best. Would love to hear it one day.- priest

^Glad you are enjoying them. I find them the best I've heard at any volume mid-level or below. But I've never heard a Grado that could play comfortably above mid-level, and I don't like to play at those volumes anyway.- priest

PS1000 Impressions Thread
They really are great. I'm a big fan of the Professional Series. I originally bought the PS500 mainly to audition them and see how they related to the PS1000, and thought I'd probably sell them after a month or so -- but I think I'm going to have a hard time letting them go. I really like the...- priest

PS1000 Impressions Thread
Not to mention that the HD 800 is $1000 more than the HD 650, which was the next lowest Sennheiser before the arrival of the HD 700. Yes, the PS1000 cost a lot of money and are not for cost-conscious bargain-hunters. But there are those of us who love them and think they are well worth it...- priest

Glad you are so happy with the PS1000 and Woo combo. The PS1000 has outlasted all other headphones for me, and I've had quite a few. I keep buying, but it's more of an existential reflex and an addiction than a need for anything "better."- priest

PS1000 Impressions Thread
I continue to be amazed by how different our ears must be. I owned the GS1000i for quite some time, and sold it because I found it too bright in direct comparison to my PS1000, which I don't find bright at all. Much happier with the flagship. I had a similar problem with the RS1i, which I...- priest

PS1000 Impressions Thread
Of all the money I have spent on this hobby over the years, I have never regretted the money I spent on these. Of course, I don't hear them much like you describe anyway. Yes, the SR325is can seem "aggressive" and "forward" to me, but the PS1000? Never heard that once over the course of the...- priest

I like the D600 at least as much as the D5000, if not a little bit more, even though it can be a little bit edgy at times.- priest

Quote: Sorry, I have never used the BHA-1. The Solo ULDE did not affect the PS1000 tonality I was used to, to my ears. It did seem to smooth out the treble a little tiny bit. Quote: Quote: They are not all major headphones. My top ten full-size are probably: ...- priest
