Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
You’re likely thinking of the upgrade kit for the original Bifrost which was the Unison USB board upgrade. That was (and still is) $150- The Hawk

Bluesound Node 2i
I did the upgrade on my 2021 Node. IMO it was a worthwhile upgrade For a minimal investment. I bought their kit that includes the Meanwell SMPSU as they don’t offer one with a Linear PSU for anything that’s not 220V. I wrote a lengthy review on their site that I’ll quote part of here: “The...- The Hawk

Audeze LCD-4
No I did not. Obviously very difficult to ascertain as direct A-B comparisons aren’t reliable whatsoever IMHO because of the time it takes to swap out the OpAmps but based on recordings that I listen to that I’m extremely familiar with I never found myself missing anything. I’ve said this...- The Hawk

Audeze LCD-4
I can’t speak to the LCD-4 but I use a 2021 LCD-X running off a Burson Soloist 3XP fed from Schiit Bifrost 2/64. I’ve loved the Burson since I got it but being a bit treble sensitive I found that the highs could be a bit “etchy” on a lot of the material I listen to. Based on feedback I’d seen...- The Hawk

Flux Lab Acoustics FA-10, FA-10 Pro, FA-12, FCN-10 & FA-12s Amplifiers - Summit-Fi for the People?: Reviews, Impressions & Discussion
I wouldn’t sweat it. Generally the advantage one gains using the balanced output of a headphone amplifier is a significant power increase. The Volot however outputs the same amount of power through all of its headphone outs and if my memory serves that applies to all the amps Flux makes.- The Hawk

Burson Soloist 3X Performance Head/Pre Amp - 8Wpc XLR with MUSE72320 volume control
The Soloist has plenty of power to run those cans. But even though they have low impedance they have pretty poor sensitivity (92db) so you’re going to have to at least run medium gain and crank the volume up a fair ways to play it at decently loud levels. Don‘t fret that the Soloist does not...- The Hawk

Flux Lab Acoustics FA-10, FA-10 Pro, FA-12, FCN-10 & FA-12s Amplifiers - Summit-Fi for the People?: Reviews, Impressions & Discussion
Weird contradiction that your opinion is the Flux FA-10 Limited is not worthy of being considered a high-end product due to a .008% THD but Flux are the best headphone amps in the world 🤔- The Hawk

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
That is an excellent point that I’m sure a lot of folks overlook. So much music is so poorly mastered it won’t sound smooth or etch free on anything but the warmest tilted systems. I listen to a lot of genre’s of music but one that typically can be found fatiguing is metal……some of those...- The Hawk

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
My 2 cents: I think a lot of that is very system dependent. And I say that because I’m quite treble sensitive and on my primary listening setup (Bluesound NODE used as a transport for my attached NAS, Burson Soloist 3XP, Bifrost 2/64 all feeding my 2021 LCD-X) I do not find the 2/64 made my...- The Hawk

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
It’s supposed to have a power cord included. I bought one back in September and it was included. All Schiit products are supposed to be shipped with a means to connect it to power (power cord, wall wart or USB w/adapter) The only cables that are never included are interconnects.- The Hawk
