UE TF10s have finally worn out... what next?
Hi All, So I've been out of the headphone game for a fair while, since I settled on the Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi 10 Pro and Sennheiser HD580 for my listening setup. Unfortunately, the TF10s have worn out after putting in a valiant effort, with the cable terminal wearing out to the point where...- CaptHowie

Decision Time
Hi All, My Grado SR-60s are wearing out and I'm currently on the lookout for set to replace them as my main cans. I've been reading across the forums a fair bit, so I kind of have an idea of what I want, but I'm still totally confused. My current headphones include the SR-60s as well as a...- CaptHowie

VSonic GR07 MK2 vs UE TripleFi 10
Takes a bit to get used to the fit of the TF10's, but once you do they are amazing IEMs.- CaptHowie

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Hi All, I've ordered all the parts to build my amp, and I've encountered a problem. The heatsinks I ordered, instead of using screws, use two pins. Upon further research, I've discovered that they are PCB-mount TO-220 heatsinks. Problem is, I'm using an ABS case. Is there any way to mount...- CaptHowie

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Could anyone tell me where to find a mounting kit for the MOSFET on the heatsink? I live in Australia, so I'll be using Farnell/Element14 to order. At the moment I've found the heatsink, but the accompanying mounting kit is $9.85. Seems a little steep considering the heatsink is around $5. ...- CaptHowie

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
After a long while, I've hit the final stages of organising the build of my Starving Student. I've been watching this thread for a while, and I purchased some 19J6 tubes around a year and a half ago off a fellow Head-Fi'er, and I haven't had much time up until now to organise and build the...- CaptHowie

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
I haven't been on this thread in a long while, but I've finally got time to put a Starving Student together, but I've become stuck with a few things in planning. Firstly, I'm building a point-to-point 19J6-based Starving Student. I brought the tubes when I was suppose to build it last year, but...- CaptHowie

I didn't like the Comply's either. It takes ages to get a good seal in your ear, and then once you do it removes all of the highs that make the UE's really good IEM's.- CaptHowie

Sansui SR-212?
Hi All, Sorry if this sounds rushed but I don't have to much time left before my opportunity to get this ends. Is this a good turntable? I'm starting to build my Hi-Fi system, so what needs to go with this? A receiver and an amp I'm guessing, a preamp too? Is this a quality turntable (Sansui...- CaptHowie

Best IEMs between $100-300?
IE6's are a fair notch below the IE7's. I'd go all the way up for the IE8's if I was a basshead. They are the basshead's universal IEM.- CaptHowie

IE6's are bassy, the IE7's a more neutral and the IE8's are bassy. Take a choice. I've heard the Atrio's, that are a bit cheaper have good bass as well. -CaptHowie- CaptHowie

How do the IE7's sound anything like the Grado sound signature, specifically the SR-60's? Or am I way off? I'm about to take the plunge in buying them but I was just curious on the sound signature because people have brought up that they are warm yet neutral.- CaptHowie
