So what are the hottest portable 8-track players? The vintage players ought to be the best.- daveman

A chain letter that I actually enjoyed.
What a waste of time. Hardly any of this was true for me. Just because I think cows taste better than horses doesn't mean I don't value my family over my career.- daveman

Anyone got a GPS???
I have built-in GPS in my 2004 Accord. This is Honda's new GPS, and it's even better than the one in the TL-S. It's amazing. It even stayed on track in Mahattan, even when skyscrapers limited the number of satellites it could lock into. The built-in gyros and interface with the car's speed...- daveman

Computer Efficiency/Maximium Performance?
Take some tips from someone in the trade. Defrag provides no performance increase in most modern computers. http://www.techbuilder.org/article.htm?ArticleID=47626- daveman

Moving to NYC - rent or buy?
Thanks all for the advice. I'm surprise SweetSpot hasn't replied. Perhaps I should also add that I'm an Ihp-140 owner. ;-) jpelg, I am well-aware of some of the great restaurants in the New Haven area. I have a penchant for Mexican, and have already discovered Mi Casa and Jalapeno Heaven...- daveman

Moving to NYC - rent or buy?
Actually, Long Island might be a possibility, since it would actually be closer to my girlfriend. My GF is already in her first year of residency in New Haven (Yale/HSR). I'd prefer to be closer to New Haven, but I don't think there are many job opportunities for me there (Oracle database...- daveman

Moving to NYC - rent or buy?
I'm considering to NYC for 1-3 years to be closer to my GF while she does her medical residency. My GF's cousin lives in Manhattan and pays $1500 per month in rent for half a 2-bedroom apartment. Here in the DC metro area, I live in a co-op apartment I purchased a few years ago. Yes, the...- daveman

FM transmitter for IHP series
Do some work better than others, or are they all pretty much the same? I'd want one with rechargable batteries or a DC adapter. I guess smaller would be better, too, with limited in-car storage space.- daveman

MP3 Player with decent FM?
The iHP-140 can't record from FM, and I don't think the 120 can, either. They do have pretty good tuners, however. Much better reception than the Rio flash players (the only thing I have for comparison).- daveman

E3's in the machine shop, wow!
It wasn't my intention to hijack this thread, but wow, what a can of worms we've opened here. LOL. I think we owe it to ArcTeryx to get back on topic. Someone needs to mention how dangerous it is to be distracted by music in a hazardous machine shop.- daveman

Cheapest place to buy IHP-120?
amazon.com often has the lowest price, but their prices change frequently, so it's best to monitor them over time. Currently, you can get the ihp-140 for roughly $6 more than the ihp-120.- daveman

E3's in the machine shop, wow!
I've been considering using E3's for motorcycycling, too. Right now I'm using "foamies," which offer about a 34dB noise reduction (it's the wind noise that's deafening, not the sound of the motorcycle, itself). I figure the E2's would offer about 20dB of NR, which would allow me to better hear...- daveman

HOT DEAL ALERT! iRiver IHP-140 - $370!
That's an awesome price! The ihp-140 is now within $10 of the price of the ihp-120 at amazon. I had been tracking the price of the Ihp-140 for about a month now, and just took the plunge last week, when it dropped to the lowest-ever price of $420 at Amazon. I purchased just a couple days too...- daveman
