USB DAC/ADC - Is there a holy grail at $500 or under?
I first searched through the archives in order to prevent redundancy, but it came back null Is there a magical device that will act as a DAC most of the time but will accept a mic/aux in for recording and/or streaming at a <$500 price? I'd like to plug in a condensor mic for streaming and my...- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Sansa Clip+ factory data
Does anyone have a saved folder for the factory data? I failed to back mine up before formatting via windows (with hidden files shown) and now there is absolutely nothing on it. Delete the included audio/audiobook files since that would evidently be copyright infringement or something, but if...- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Stereo integrated amplifier for <$500?
So I have an a/v receiver and it's nice but I'm not using 80% of the unit. Considering I will never have 9 sources and 9 separate speakers, what is a good stereo amp? Phono inputs and bi-amping are a huge plus but are not deal breakers. I was looking at the Marantz PM5004 but if a marginal...- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Alright now what do I do? : aka computer dictates what the external DAC sees
Today I received my Teac UD-H01. After hooking it up via optical from my motherboard, I noticed the sampling rate was locked at 48khz. After fiddling around with the Teac and testing the connection of the optical cord I went into the setting of the realtek drivers only to find that the max...- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Wait, soundcard to external DAC?
I have been doing this, but don't understand why, let alone why anyone else is. Why are we buying a soundcard with a DAC inside, only to use coax or optical and hook it to an external DAC? Why don't we just use the analog outs to an amp? also Are they both decoding, or what?- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Best turntable cartridge under $50 usd; aka SHOW OFF YOUR TABLES
Just like the title says, I'd like to know an affordable cartridge for the sl 1500, or if I need to spend the extra $20 on a Shure m97xe... I have the original mount and cartridge but don't want to use them for the sake of keeping them as mint as possible- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Technic SL-1200MK2 Body replacement
Ok I just accidentally bought an SL-1200, but the body or chassis or whatever you call it is mangled beyond hell. The seller said everything in it works but I seriously doubt it. Where can I get a replacement body?- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Trying to make an entry-level PC audio source
Okay so I've been a member here for a little while now, but I don't have much in the realm of audio gear. I have a budget a $250 to get either a good soundcard, a dac/amp, or a dedicated dac and headphone amp. To be honest I have absolutely no idea how to optimize the value and whenever there is...- BLACKENEDPLAGUE

Are all 1/4" to 1/8" (6.35mm to 3.5mm) headphone adapters created equal?
I bought an adapter from Radioshack for about $6 usd, and that felt like total rip-off. The fact that the pin bent almost immediately is even more frustrating. My question, are all adapters this crappy? Do they have varying sound quality? Why should I get (insert superior adapter) over...- BLACKENEDPLAGUE
