Are these Monster Turbine Pro Gold Edition Real or Fake???
I'm pretty sure those are fake. Monster doesn't put that plastic wrap on the Y-split.- torptube

Looking for some BASS monsters under $200
I have a pair of XB700's and all the posters are correct, they are bass monsters. The upper range is a little diminished. I feel like the V-moda crossfades have better overall performance, but with less bass.- torptube

Blind Test - Take Now!
They really sound similar, but if I would have to guess, I would say that B is mp3. I listened to the first 2 seconds over and over, and focused on the overtones that were produced by Rodrigo's lower notes. A's overtones sound more present. Listening to the whole clip made it near...- torptube

V-Moda Crossfade LP
In my opinion they sound better than the beats, but I've only sampled the beats. They aren't as clear as my V900HD's or SA3000's, but the sound is much more fun.- torptube

V-Moda Crossfade LP
I have a pair. They sound really good out an ipod directly. Sometimes the bass is overpowering, but it seems like my brain gets used to it. After that, it's surprisingly balanced. They're also really comfortable, so prolonged listening isn't hard on the ears.- torptube

white noise & slight crackling - TF10 or Recording Flaw?
Sounds in rhythm to me, probably a part of the recording. I can hear those notes on my TF10's. Also, it's exactly the same every time the duet comes into focus.- torptube

Oh where, oh where has my slim Arrow gone, oh where, oh where can it be?
He might actually be shipping based on distance. Build up some capital before sending out some 3000 mile ships. Davis, CA here at order 2404 June 7, 2010. Pretty far from Germany.- torptube

iem help for a beginner audiophile
SM3 owner here, no 535, but I can say the SM3s are amazing IEM's. That being said, they aren't without their flaws. If I were you, I would work my way up the IEM chain, so you can better refine your own understanding of what sound signature(s) you like. If you do want to jump in the...- torptube

Ok here goes, I need a new IEM
I wouldn't underestimate Monster for sound quality. I think we just all don't like them because they so aggressively market marginally better products for a much higher price. After all, Noel Lee is a self declared audiophile. The Turbine headphones were a pet project of his that just...- torptube

What will it be like?
I agree with grimloki. If you can cancel your order, do it. For the price of the Tours ($134), you could get an excellent headset. Like the Audio-Technica ATH-M50, or even the Sony MDR-V900HD. Inversely, for the price of the Studios ($259) you could get the Monster Turbine Pro...- torptube

Ok here goes, I need a new IEM
I've seen the Custom 3's being suggested around here a lot more now, since they're like $109 on amazon. At that price, the sound quality is hard to beat. DBA-02s are nice, but I think there is a long waiting time to get them. Not to mention lack of bass. The Monster Turbine Pro...- torptube

What will it be like?
I can't speak for the Beats Studio, but I have a pair of Beats Tours. They are definitely a large step up from Skull Candys you were using before. The quality of the sound that comes out of the Beats Tours, though, could probably be had for less that how much the Tours cost. The...- torptube

Just made the just from IEM to full sized (MDR-V900HD)
Portability is a serious issue with these cans, but at least the wire is long enough that I can walk around without having my computer or DAP fall.- torptube

Just made the just from IEM to full sized (MDR-V900HD)
I must say, these cans sound amazing. Not even the DBA-02 or SM3 come close to matching its clarity. I was just wondering what gear you all have there, and your guy's general thoughts about full sized headphones in general. Also, I've search and read around about open vs. closed, but...- torptube

Classical Music Earphones
I've always felt that classical music (with the exception of certain types of pieces) was the hardest genre of music to encode. That and Fatboy slim. Having said that, even CD's can't complete capture the true sound of a symphony. Musicians are just so capable of putting subtleties in...- torptube

Klipsch Image S4 vs. Sleek Audio SA1
The SA1's have a much better treble range. I find that the S4's are muddier around the mids. On the flip side, the SA1's have anemic bass range. Clarity vs bass....- torptube

SuperFi 5 (vi) or Klipsch S4? SQ
The S4's are muddier than the SF5's. S4 has more bass. I like the SF5's better personally, but I'm not that big on boomy bass.- torptube

Anyone see any Monster Turbine Gold Fakes?
The fake coppers finally came in. I'll try to get a comparison up soon, but preliminarily, they look like decent fakes. With a side by side comparison, you can easily tell which one is fake, but if you've never seen a copper before, or not in a while, it'd probably fool you. The sound...- torptube

Monster Turbine Pro Copper
I actually ordered some fakes from dhgate.com to see how close those ones are. Maybe you already did my experiment for me. Started from that other thread asking about fakes. I'll post pics when I get them. They're in customs right now. Good to know I'm not the only one to get the...- torptube

Anyone see any Monster Turbine Gold Fakes?
OK, they are at customs right now. Pretty fast shipping from China. Ordered from dhgate.com. They seem to have volume shipments, like 50+ boxes of fake turbines at 40 dollars per unit. I got one of the single unit ones for 58 dollars. I tried to find the fakest of the fake. Maybe...- torptube

Anyone see any Monster Turbine Gold Fakes?
I'll do the experiment. The scientist in me is just begging for an answer. I have both a legit MTPC and MTPG, just ordered a fake MTPC. I'll report back in like 2 weeks (takes time to ship from China). Then we'll have an answer once and for all!- torptube
