NAD M51 Direct Digital DAC Impressions
Picked up a M51 recently...simply an awesome device. Amazing sound and funcionality. I love it's ability to take an HDMI from my pc (GTX680) for audio and video. It allows me to use my tv a fourth monitor and get HQ audio with one cable...sounds even a bit better over HDMI vs usb imo. ...- ulnevrgtit

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
I just called them and gave them my purchase info from earphonesolutions...I had registered them with Westone to get the second year of the warranty. The cable only went out after almost two years of a lot of use. It seemed like only when I started using them when skiing that the cable...- ulnevrgtit

The cable on my W4 went out after almost 2 years. Sent them back to Westone and after three day received W4R in return. Westone customer service is some of the best I have ever dealt with. You can get them on the phone very quickly/easily and they are very responsive to email as well...- ulnevrgtit

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)
Thank you so much for your response Ultrazino. It is very helpful and I appriciate you taking the time. The FX700 seemed like a pretty big risk given what you've noted. I will take a closer look at the PFE232s. Thanks again :)- ulnevrgtit

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)
I expect the FX700 to be more v-shaped, Im hoping for as much. The W4s are great but can be boring at times. I wanted something livelier with more bass and sparkle. My TF10s fit the bill but as I noted, the reshell has negatively impacted the signature so I'm looking for a replacement. I am...- ulnevrgtit

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)
Hey all...I was wondering if anyone could compare the W4s and the FX700s. I have the W4s and really enjoy their relatively neutral presentation and ability to play almost anything well. I generally use the W4s for longer listing sessions and when at work and have used TF10s when I want a...- ulnevrgtit

For anyone that finds the treble too much on nearly any universal iem I suggest complys...they'll soak the treble right up. I'm still surprised people are finding the highs on the W4s offensive, or any aspect of them for that matter. I find their lack of aggression to be their greatest...- ulnevrgtit

I wear my TF10s over ear and have never really liked the memory wire. I have the westone epic cable and striped the memory wire...and am much happier now.- ulnevrgtit

Quote: To each their own. I'd rather let universal IEMs at this level be what they are and if they dont suit me sell them and get something else that does...there is plenty of variety out there. I think if you always use an eq you'll always need/want an eq. Regarding the W4s...- ulnevrgtit

^ Thanks i2ehan, ill keep an eye out. Do the PFE232 sound pretty similar to the W4 otherwise? I've really come to appriciate the W4s for all that they are and started looking elsewhere for what little their not. I'm getting my TF10s reshelled and have been considering some FX700s. Quote: It probably is just marketing and I'm sure the W4s are balanced...but to +/-2db? Westone seems to differentiate the two models by overtly stating that the W4Rs are, implying the previous model are not. If the two models aren't any different in this area I find that misleading.- ulnevrgtit

Quote: IMO...the W4s are very tip dependent, in that their sound changes significantly depending on the tip in use. I found the treble least enjoyable with deeper fit tips (e.g. long comply, triple flange, etc)...not harsh necessarily, but more so than with other tips.- ulnevrgtit
