How many pairs of headphones do you own?
One: The HE-500. Guess I'm a collector of music rather than audio gear. The HE-500 with my ancillary gear serves all my music needs just fine.- Andolink

Is the Audio-gd NFB-6 the least liked Audio-gd product?
Yes. Kingwa emailed me the codes but more significantly he sent me two replacement remotes for the very reasonable cost of just $5 US. The replacement remotes work OK but have to be aimed directly at the front of the amp to transmit the signal. (Better than nothing.)- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amps employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
Wow, that might explain why Audio-gd doesn't have the resources to produce a remote control that actually works. I love my NFB-6 though.- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amps employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
Well the Audio-gd NFB 6 that I have (now discontinued) uses a relay-based stepped attenuator volume control and it certainly is far from being expensive even considering that it's a Chinese product.- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amps employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
What you're saying makes complete sense to me. I wonder why there seems to be no demand among audiophiles for what is superior technology that's really quite simple and inexpensive to implement.- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amp manufacturers employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
Clearly there is very little demand for remotely controlled headphone amps. The few I've been able to find have either way more features than I need and want to pay for or they're exclusively single-ended and my rig is set up for balanced operation only. I'm already beginning to accept the...- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amp manufacturers employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
The The DAC in my CD player is perfect for my needs. I just want a nice high quality balanced headphone amp to drive my HE-500's that I can control from across the room like I'd been doing for the past 2 1/2 years with my Audio-gd NFB 6. I've considered trying to use a remote with...- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amp manufacturers employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
OK, so yeah maybe I am the poster boy for being "so Last Century". I don't own a smart phone and I don't do computer audio. I have a 10 foot headphone cable to my headphone amp which is connected to the CD player of my family room speaker gear. When I get comfortable in my listening...- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amp manufacturers employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
[I originally posted this in the "Headphone Amps (full size)" forum but it's probably more appropriate here] Other than Audio-gd and a few very high end headphone amp makers, emplyment of this not terribly complicated technology seems to be extremely rare. Why so? It woud seem to me...- Andolink

Why do so few headphone amps employ relay-based volume control w/ IR remote?
Other than Audio-gd and a few very high end headphone amp makers, emplyment of this not terribly complicated technology seems to be extremely rare. Why so? It woud seem to me that the huge added convenience of remote volume control combined with the absence of negatives such as sound...- Andolink

Is the Audio-gd NFB-6 the least liked Audio-gd product?
Unfortunately I must update this thread with a (for me) major problem. The remote control for my NFB-6 has stopped working and Kingwa at Audio-gd tells me the only replacement remote he can send me also doesn't work properly. Lack of remote volume control seriously undermines my...- Andolink

Best headphones for classical music
I currently use the HE-500 primarily for classical and totally love it! I haven't heard the 560's so can't comment on those, but the 500's can now be had for around $530 so are a great deal IMO. See my signature for my upstream gear. My preference is always for as close to complete...- Andolink

Best classical recordings...ever!
Mirare consistently puts out recordings with demonstration quality sound. This one is sublime and is also, IMO, particularly suited to headphone listening: Great music, ultra sensitive performances, stunningly recorded. Probably my favorite of 2015. -
