MrSpeakers AEON Flow Open - Impressions Thread
Neutral bass is fine, they seem like they will have more bass than a decent amount of open headphones. Frequency graphs of them show their bass extends very well and basically a straight line as with most planars as well. I guess my most important question is, does the AFO/AFC soundstage have...- jordannn15

MrSpeakers AEON Flow Open - Impressions Thread
I am thinking about getting a pair of AFO or AFC. Many reviews I have read/watched say the AFO has a smallish soundstage. How is the soundstage compared to HD6XX/HD650? Do the AFC make your ears sweat and if so, how long can you listen before it happens? I like good sub bass extension and...- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
I think I’m going to try the DX7s first and then if I want to try something different I will go with a tube amp like the crack. Some say different amps make a significant difference and I haven’t tried many as I have been trying different headphones so I would like to start trying different amps...- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
I’m a bit afraid to get into tube amps as most of the tubes people recommend like that Tung Sol 5998 are like $100+ for just one, adding a good bit to the cost of the amp.- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
Do you use the stock tubes? I feel everyone always has a recommendation about different tubes. How does it color the sound? Do different tubes really change the sound a lot? Do you like the one with or without speedball better?- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
I see you have the DX7s and NFB-11.28. Do you like one or the other better? I know the NFB is class A but I couldn’t figure out whether the DX7s is. The DX7s puts out more power at 300 ohms from its balanced than the NFB does (I know its single ended only). I was looking into the Aune X7s as...- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
Ideally, an improved soundstage which is somewhat larger and more natural than the 3 blob stage. And if possible, extend bass extension so that the sub bass is a bit more present. Which type is going to have more of the sound I am looking for? OTL’s or transformer coupled amps? I wondered...- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
So do you think it would be more beneficial or a bigger difference if I went with a tube amp rather than going balanced? If so, any recommendations on tube amps. Again would be great if it was a combo amp and dac but not 100% necessary. I just need usb input and optical input.- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
Okay so based on Protege’s reply, if I were to go with DX7s, it would be balanced whether I was using the optical in (ps4) or usb in (macbook pro) because it has a balanced dac not only an amp section. Is that correct? And since it is an all in one, no XLR cables would be needed besides the...- jordannn15

Balanced Amp and DAC for HD6XX
At this point I have tried enough headphones for my liking and have returned to the HD6XX’s. Now I want to try them with a balanced amp and dac. I have one main question that I couldn’t find while googling. If my music source is a macbook pro, how would I connect it to a balanced amp? I assume...- jordannn15

Open back upgrade from HD700's?
Is my NFB-11 a good pairing? I also don’t think I can get a used HD800 for $500. They seem to be going for $750 or more.- jordannn15

I am afraid of Hifiman build quality, always seems to be so many issues. I think I might try Focal Elex next unless there are any other recommendations.- jordannn15

Open back upgrade from HD700's?
I’ve had the LCD-2 back before they released the lcd-2f and lcd-2 classic. They were kind of heavy but didn’t feel as awkward as fidelio x2’s for whatever reason and that was 5-6 years ago when I was smaller and in high school. I also don’t game for too long at one time, usually just a couple of...- jordannn15

Open back upgrade from HD700's?
I have tried the X2's a couple of times and I don't mind the way they sound but they are just a big set of cans and they feel weird to me on my head. I also think my ears touched the pads a bit. If I were to take a little darker of a headphone what would you recommend? I just want them to have...- jordannn15

Open back upgrade from HD700's?
Budget - $400. Willing to spend up to $500 if needed. Source/Amp - DAC/Amp is a AudioGD NFB-11.28 How the gear will be used - Home listening from macbook pro or ps4 for gaming. Preferred tonal balance - Mostly balanced with just a bit more bass and good bass extension. Nice smooth, kind of...- jordannn15

Looks like it has rca, balanced, and usb input but no optical or 3.5mm in. I need either an optical or 3.5mm input.- jordannn15

DAC/Amp Combo
No problem. I went ahead and bought a NFB-11.28 off of ebay for $210. The seller said they bought it in the summer of 2017 so hopefully there weren’t too many major changes between that version and the latest NFB-11.28/11.38.- jordannn15

I took a look at that SDAC and LCX combo, it looks really nice especially having the balanced output as well but there is not optical or line in, unless I’m mistaken.- jordannn15

I found a couple of good condition used nfb-11.28’s on ebay so I’m gonna try to go for those first. I will definitely check those out if the ebay one’s fall through. Thanks!- jordannn15

DAC/Amp Combo
This is another good option, the only downside I see about buying them new is that Schiit charges an extra $20 or so for tax and a little over $20 or more for any of the shipping options available to me. If I can find them used for around the same price that would be better but I think I still...- jordannn15
