Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
I saw that video earlier this week - looks very interesting. I am actually planning to build one of those for the fun of it sometime soon. I've looked over the parts list and the "how-to" threads at DIYAudio - it's pretty simple and not that expensive. I like the idea of being able to try...- T Bone

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
An $8 KabelDirekt TOSLINK cable from Amazon fixed it. Now my little experiment streams 24/192kHz reliably. Still impressed by the performance of a little Raspberry Pi / HiFiBerry Digi2 HAT!- T Bone

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
My comment was directed at the Raspberry Pi / DigiBerry combination. It seemed weird to me to drive thousands of dollars worth of gear from PI based streamer. There are streamers that cost thousands and here I am tinkering with a homebuilt $100 solution that sounds pretty darn good.- T Bone

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
Now that is interesting! I guess without a clock signal to jitter or possibility of electrical interface it doesn't really matter how the photons get created. Prior to this "low-dollar" TOSLINK experiment, I was considering a Holo Red streamer as a good option for getting an optical input...- T Bone

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
After reading the positive feedback users have given the optical input on the M-Scaler, I thought I'd give it a try myself. My current streamer is a Magna HiFi Mano which has SPIDF output - but no Toslink. I picked up a HiFiBerry DigiPro 2 audio HAT for $50 and burned a RoPieee image onto the...- T Bone

JRiver to RoPieee Connectivity?
I can't seem to figure out how to configure my RoPieeeXL box as an audio zone in JRiver. Anyone have any hints for me? JRiver runs on my desktop PC in my home office. I have a streamer in the living room running a RoPieeeXL image. Roon see's it just fine. In fact, Roon is my primary...- T Bone

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
Originally, I had them side-by-side on a the shelf. Then I had to move components around on the rack and "stacking" made sense. ....but I became concerned about heat/airflow.- T Bone

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
I don't know if this was really necessary or not, but it seemed like the right thing to do. I wanted to put about an inch of ventilation between my Chord TT 2 and M-Scaler. Anyone else using IsoAcoustic ISO-pucks or something similar?- T Bone

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
Is there an appreciable benefit to connecting the M-Scaler to a source via the dual-BNC input vs a single BNC? (The M-Scaler user manual lists Dual BNC as a possible input) My M-Scaler is currently connected to a network streamer via a 75Ω digital cable - The streamer's SPDIF output connects...- T Bone

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
I recently picked up a "preloved" Hugo TT 2 and an M-Scaler and have been thoroughly impressed! My fascination with Chord started a years ago with a dealer demo that had a Qutest paired with an M-Scaler. I was impressed just how good their "entry level" DAC sounded and how good it could...- T Bone

I just don’t have the time to indulge my headphone hobby the way that I used to. So I am parting out my headphone system. I am selling my Singxer SU-1 digital audio bridge. It converts USB input to I2S, AES and SPIDF digital output. I upgraded the A/C inlet to bypass the internal power supply in...- T Bone

Magna Hifi Mano Music Streamer
I tried streaming all 16 & 24 bit content - it all worked well. I also tried streaming different sample rates up to 192Khz. ....everything functioned correctly. I also tried streaming DSD64 content using DoP - that worked flawlessly as well. As a Roon Bridge it was identified on the network...- T Bone

Magna Hifi Mano Music Streamer
...- none of which had anything to do with sound quality. (1) The version of RoPieee in the Mano does not work with the wireless USB adapter. I ***REALLY*** wanted to a wireless device. Instead I was forced to run an ethernet cable to the Mano and hardwire it to my network. (2) I'm getting...- T Bone

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread
I'm conducting a bit of an experiment tonight. I'm comparing my new Chord Qutest to my "old" Holo Spring DAC. I've got my system configured in such a way (albeit temporarily) to quickly A:B both DAC's on the same amp. For this test, I'm using a HeadAmp GS-X mk2 headphone amplifier to drive my...- T Bone

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
Yup, that's one that one that I installed too. It was a pretty simple mod. Not yet. The consensus among Qutest owners seems to be that it doesn't respond to the typical audio nerd tweaks in the same way that other DACs have. Linear power supplies haven't seemed to make a significant...- T Bone

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
I did *all* of those mods to my SU-1. I bypassed the internal power supply to power it with an external LPS. I soldered in new voltage regulators chips and swapped caps. I was able to wring out a little more performance out of the SU-1. ...I primarily did it because it was fun and relatively...- T Bone

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
I've been rather vocal about what I felt was a poor quality USB implementation on the original Holo Spring. It was by far inferior to the I2S input. ....which is why so many Spring owners purchased Singxer SU-1s. The standard Singxer SU-1 works just fine. A lot of people went on to "hot rod"...- T Bone
