Ultimate Ears UE 150/UE 250/UE 350: Impressions and Discussions
SF 5 EB is one of a kind! There have been some bass-heavy hybrids but I don't think anything sounded like that. Hopefully the new UE models will become more widely available soon!- zerogorgor

Ultimate Ears UE 150/UE 250/UE 350: Impressions and Discussions
I have only demoed the UE900 quite a while back, but I thought its sound signature was quite different from SF 5 Pro or TF 10 Pro. Based on the textual description and visuals, perhaps the UE350 is more like the SF 5 Pro/TF 10 Pro? So the difference might be more about signature than quality...- zerogorgor

Ultimate Ears UE 150/UE 250/UE 350: Impressions and Discussions
The description really looks like the good old TF-10! Do you find them comfortable? I was planning to get one of these new universals, but when I was clicking around I found that I could actually order universal versions of the custom models. I had always wanted to get a pair of UERM/UERR...- zerogorgor

Ultimate Ears UE 150/UE 250/UE 350: Impressions and Discussions
Ah somehow I missed that it is a dynamic driver. The sonic description of UE 150 stands out to me, as does its faceplate. Less is more.- zerogorgor

Ultimate Ears UE 150/UE 250/UE 350: Impressions and Discussions
UE SuperFi 5 Pro was one of my first higher end earphones, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Ultimate Ears will be launching a new universal line with three models: UE150 (MRSP $199), UE250 (MSRP $299) and UE350 (MSRP $399). According to the website, these will be available in late...- zerogorgor

I own MACH 10, and have recently bought a pair of MACH 60. I realized that while the left piece indicates the model, the right one doesn't. Is there a way to tell them apart? Edit: Is there a way to tell them apart visually- zerogorgor

Bakoon HDA-5210MK4 (and related Bakoon Products/Satri Circuit Laboratory news)
This is a rather subjective hobby after all! I think this basically means that I should really, really demo before I go ahead. Let me see if I can find a show room next time I visit Japan!- zerogorgor

Thanks for the reply and the rec! My go-to headphone has been HD600, and unfortunately I never managed to find a sweet spot with respect to volume when paired with my HDA-5520. I am actually (pleasantly) surprised that you are pairing the HDA-5520MKII with IEMs. Do you adjust the volume of...- zerogorgor

This is very helpful, thank you! My DACs had a maximum of 2.0 VRMS, but I lowered the DAC volume quite substantially when I used my HDA-5520. This came with the (possibly psychological) cost of getting less meat/body at a similar volume ...- zerogorgor

Thanks for the series of impressions and info, very helpful. It's a bummer to know that your unit had to be sent back (but I am very glad that it has been repaired). Was it a QC issue? It is probably a long shot since there isn't a large Bakoon community here, but are you aware of other users...- zerogorgor

Thanks for the impressions. What is your source gear? I have been pairing my MACH 10 with a Chinese player (Quloos QA361), which I enjoy a lot. However, I have recently bought a Sony ZX707, and the pairing gives me this "anemic and lifeless" impression.- zerogorgor

I haven't really been following head-fi for some time, but then saw the MACH series at a show and was very excited. The entire series was available there, but I just picked a few to try. To me, an 8-model series is simply too much to handle. For the models that I have tried, most are competent...- zerogorgor

I haven't been paying attention to head-fi for some time, so unfortunately I missed the tour. A sceond tour seems unlikely, so hopefully I can find a place where I can try all of the MACH earphones properly. That response discussion is most likely what I had in mind. Sound-wise I am also a big...- zerogorgor

Very helpful, thank you. I do think the MACH 80 is a little too analytical too. Based on my short time with them, I find them capable and competent, but not really enjoyable, and they don't really have a memorable character. I listen to instrumental music only, but I still don't think I'd be...- zerogorgor

There are some pretty good deals on MACH 10 (~65% off), MACH 30 (~30% off), MACH 50 (~25% off) and MACH 80 (~40% off) on Amazon US. These discounts come sooner than I expected, given this is a new series. Waiting to see if there will be one for MACH 60...- zerogorgor

Yeah, I know, unfortunately (or fortunately) I don't have any player with a 2.5mm output. Ear-hook is really a personal thing, I myself cannot stand it, but I respect people who prefer ear-hooks. I find the lack of consistency in Westone's offering rather frustrating, but at least Linum does...- zerogorgor

I was (and still am) very pleasantly surprised by Westone's MACH series at the London CanJam this year. They sound sharper and more crisp than the Westone I knew (UM2), and I like this better. It was too overwhelming to try out all the 8 models in one go. So, if I remember correctly, I had only...- zerogorgor

Looks like the SuperBax cables that come with the higher end MACH models have the ear-hook, what a shame. I (vaguely) remember one of the selling points of the Linum cables upon their launch was that they were so soft and light that users wouldn't need an ear hook/metallic wire- zerogorgor
