EHHA Rev A - Interest Thread
I will check it. The build fit and finish, sound, and documentation are amazing. Did you find the 6GM8 tubes to be the best sounding?- jfiveeight

EHHA Rev A - Interest Thread
Hello thread, i ended up with @muskyhuntr 's ehha revA. I read back a page or two and he had mentioned he grounded it differently. Anything I can help with here? I am also seeing issues with the amb e12 but only on the right channel, sometimes it works. I have yet to troubleshoot it.- jfiveeight

The Official Sony MDR-Z1R Flagship Headphone Thread (Live From IFA 2016)
Can one of the two people in this thread that have auditioned the headphone clear this up? Sony states it's closed and the noise isolation has been commented on as impressive. I am still curious if they are called closed but closer to a semi open design due to the paper filter and not a...- jfiveeight

Mini Dac TDA1543 X 4 NOS
Alright well, i figured $60 is worth it to see how this NOS sounds and if the metrum octave will be my cup of tea. I checked the DC offset on my amp and it starts highish (30mv+) then the meter counts down to about 5mv and hovers there throughout the powerband. Is this too much that i...- jfiveeight

Mini Dac TDA1543 X 4 NOS
Quote: Waiting on this since you bought one in January. I was originally shooting for the EE minimax but the Octave looks compelling. What I'm most concerned about is the 6 moons review doesn't talk about resolution/detail as much as I wished. I greatly enjoy listening to...- jfiveeight

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
It comes down to what higher frequencies you are sensitive to. I think that with the HE-6 having a similar, lower but much broader peak in the treble allows it to sound uniform across the range and instead of just one short peak, spreads it out nicely. Of course this wouldn't work at all if...- jfiveeight

Review: Audeze LCD-2 (r1 & r2), HiFiMan HE-6, Stax SR-507, Stax OII MKI/BHSE, et al
I didn't mean to trash ASR's opinion or hard work. The review was quite thorough and put together amazingly well. Thank you for writing the review.- jfiveeight

+1 HE-6 defense force go! They got pretty torn apart in this review. Although, comparing them vastly underpowered to what is to known as one of the best headphone/amp synergies really grinds my gears.- jfiveeight

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
I try to ground myself on my table as much as possible due to sitting in a microfiber chair... I've noticed this happens with heaphones that have a metal driver or cloth over a metal cover (ultrasone). Never happened with the SA-5000.- jfiveeight

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
That's why i use 150Wpc @ 8ohms, and it sounds great. Sadly not all music is mastered equally. My classical collection is expanding way too fast.- jfiveeight

Headphone Suggestions
With the misleading title ending at $300... People will mistake this as $3,000 and expect a true thread for this forum. I recommend you try this post in the "Headphones (full-size)". Not to say you wouldn't receive any feedback here but, this is named "High-end Audio Forum" for a reason. ...- jfiveeight

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Alright, after a few days of reading I'm down to a few amps, biggest question is 150Wpc is too much? Not planning on running at the 3 o' clock mark of course but with about 90db of output play without a PVC (could always add one into the mix as well) I hope to be around 10:00 to 12:00. I read...- jfiveeight

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Quote: So you are running them with 100W monoblocks now? (awesome) Still using the volume method or did your passive attenuator arrive? Still on the fence between a solid 110W integrated vs the T-amp Virtue TWO.2 ditto on the last part.- jfiveeight

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
In search of amps for the HE-6 (who isn't). At the moment I have a Rudistor NX-02 and an old NAD 7020 receiver (20W with NAD "40W" ramping). When using both amps I have the volume dial at about 2 or 3 o' clock, I use my soundcard to control the volume (EMU 1820m) and hover from -30db to -10...- jfiveeight

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
These seem to be the headphones I am looking for from what I've read between the HD800 and the LCD2. I enjoyed the SA5K more than the PL750 which puts me in the "neutral/bright" camp. My plan would be to purchase the HE-6 and eventually drive them with a Virtue Two.2 as that seems to be a good...- jfiveeight

I'm blown away by VINYL!!!!
I just got into vinyl and am using my grandma's old NAD 5020a with a brand new grado black cartridge, new belt and my dad's old realistic phono stage, it sounds good but the records for sure need to be clean to shine. Thanks for the links and info on the record doctor 2, definitely something...- jfiveeight

Grado GS1000/rs-1 + Apogee Duet
The SA-5000 are not as bass light as everyone makes them out to be. It's not as bass heavy as the Proline 750s but from a more neutral source (1820m) to a more warm nx-02, they sound pretty good. Before I bought them I read all the threads i could and this one was a great source for how they...- jfiveeight
