The PENON official thread
Can anyone compare the Orb to the it03? I bought the H40 as a slight upgrade to the it03 and found it simply wasn't one. The mids were way too far behind the midbass bloom to enjoy them and the note placement was too...spashy. I can't think of another way to put it. I am a soundstage-head above...- MrNick

XENNS (previously known as Mangird) Impressions Thread
Seriously? Hoboy! I might order them today. I read they aren't bass cannons but I have an eclectic taste and love rap and edm - does the low end hang in terms of texture, slam, or rumble? Also, is the soundstage comparble to the it03? I am a soundstage head above all...- MrNick

IBasso Audio IT03
Just a quick update on the it03 upgrade...it isnt going well. Tried the h40 and while it had a brilliant soundstage I thought it was a significant downgrade in midrange and clarity in general. The instrument placement was poor as well. The FDX1 might have been a faulty pair as they have had QC...- MrNick

AUDIOSENSE in-ear monitors Impressions Thread
Can anyone compare the t800 to the it03? Or aq3 to the it03? I love the ibasso's, but I could use more note weight and bigger stage...just checking out my options. Bass quantity is just about perfect on the it03'same as well, but could use more detail/rumble/slam sometimes.- MrNick

Drop + JVC HA-FDX1 Dual Carbon IEM...available in the US!
Hecking darn. Should've just burned em in. The ISN H40 is another disappointment to me. Amazing Soundstage size/3D presentation but no coherent timbre. Full of bass bloat, little clarity, sibilance galore, and lifeless mids. I totally fell for the hype. I think I'll be trying the FDX1 again...- MrNick

Drop + JVC HA-FDX1 Dual Carbon IEM...available in the US!
I bought a pair before Corona hit us and promptly sent them back. Service from drop was amazing. i was (AND STILL AM) looking for an upgrade to the IT03. The timbre on the JVC's was off due to downright anemic bass and savage, tinny highs. I definitely got a decent seal. It was by far the...- MrNick

IT03 upgrade
The FDX1 truly sounds like the fit for me, but dang the first experience was rough. Was the whole signature "off" to you because of the bass? And yes, I could imagine it to be about 5-10db light...- MrNick

IT03 upgrade
Did you repurchase the fdx1 and find it more to your liking? The thing is that I found the it03 to be, on whole, more neutral than not. Tonality wise, yes, I think I prefer a slight tilt towards warmth but I don't think the it03 is a bass head IEM and it had the perfect quantity bass, just not...- MrNick

IT03 upgrade
Perhaps the fdx1 was faulty. The sibilance was out of this world and bass was simply anemic. The treble also had a very metallic quality. The H40 has very flabby bass to my ears. It covers the mids and highs. The mids and highs are very recessed and so seem lifeless. The stage is amazing but...- MrNick

ISN Earphones impression thread. New ISN H60!
Not trying to be contrary here, but I'm hearing something very different from what most are from the H40. They still aren't fully burned in. Maybe about 10 hours on them. Is it possible I got the older version? Housings are slightly purple when in the sunlight... The signature to my ears is a...- MrNick

IT03 upgrade
Hi all, I've been on a fruitless endeavor to replace my it03. I lost my pair a couple weeks ago and since have tried the JVC HA FX1 (worst iem purchase I've made) and the ISN H40. The way these two have been hyped really gave me hope but I'm starting to think I should just buy another it03...- MrNick

Definitely agree on the staging. Best expansion I've heard on the price range. May be competition for the ie80. Do you have a recommendation on a cable to bring the mids/vocals forward and tame the bass a bit on the H40? Maybe coming from the it03 I'm accustomed to very little mid bass but...- MrNick

Gunna try to roll em. Don't have any of the azla tips but I'll give them a shot. Thank you! I really want the mids/vocals/treble to come forward to be more balanced with the bass. Bass is running the show to my ears. And I'm mostly a basshead!- MrNick

Dang. Well, I might as well. I wish the IT03 had this soundstage! The midbass bloat might just be a bit much for me. If there is a way to tame it and bring some sparkle/texture to the sound it would be a done deal.- MrNick

Just got em in. H40 is a very cool iem. Bass is out of this world. I'm hearing a strong L shape out of the box. Details not that sharp, but good enough. The stage is a definite upgrade from the it03. Treble is quite subdued and so are vocals. Everything else is top notch for the price. Does...- MrNick

Interesting. I've read in a review the H40 have more bass than the FH5, and the FH5 having more bass than the it03. Would you say the H40 has more bass quantity than the it03? Thanks so much for your input!- MrNick

ISN Earphones impression thread. New ISN H60!
Pulled the trigger from Penon yesterday. Hopefully they won't get stuck in customs. :) I recently returned the JVC HA FDX1 because I thought it sounded downright horrible. It was very, very good with certain types of songs but lacked bass (It was downright wimpy), very sharp/tinny highs, and an...- MrNick
