Ok thanks! Any experience with DTS UltraPC II by any chance? It's supposed to be a surround sound virtualization solution like DH.- USCdeacon

New PC Build - Asus Xonar DX + Astro Mixamp - redundant? (Soundcard suggestions welcome!)
unfortunately the Xonar DG doesn't support dolby digital live, so if I wanted to use the Mixamp in the future (to mix the game audio and mic input), they wouldn't be compatible, right?- USCdeacon

New PC Build - Asus Xonar DX + Astro Mixamp - redundant? (Soundcard suggestions welcome!)
Hello Head-Fi! I recently put together a new gaming PC and ran into an unanticipated audio conundrum. I have an Astro Mixamp that I used to use with my Xbox 360 primarily to play game with Dolby Headphone (which I fell in love with in Dead Space and Battlefield 3). I thought that I would...- USCdeacon

Audio Technica ATH-A900X Discussion Thread (Formerly A-900X Review)
I didn't know why I didn't think of this sooner, but I tried the same test with the M50's and I hear the same things I'm hearing with the A900X's! IT must either be a problem with the recording (doubtful) or something happening somehere in the audio chain (MBP-->nuForce uDAC-->headphone)...- USCdeacon

Audio Technica ATH-A900X Discussion Thread (Formerly A-900X Review)
@kriegszeit and any other that might be able to chime in... so I tripped over the cable (doh!) and these headphones went flying down onto the floor (from the table I had them set on), which is a wooden floor with chepa IKEA rug on it. Horrified, I put them back on, and everything seemed...- USCdeacon

Audio Technica ATH-A900X Discussion Thread (Formerly A-900X Review)
Quote: my set has a 2012-05 sticker as well, but not sure if I have mismatched drivers. I ran the Driver Matching test from audiocheck.net and the sound seems pretty centered throughout the entire range until the very last high frequency bit, where it sweeps from L to R to L again very...- USCdeacon

Audio Technica ATH-A900X Discussion Thread (Formerly A-900X Review)
Quote: I just got my pair from the Buydig sale and I initially had the same opinion as you. It's probably secondary to my ears being so accustomed to the M50's for the past couple of years, but I definitely didn't like the sound of the A900X's right out of box. Treble was a bit too...- USCdeacon

nuforce uDAC to Digizoid Zo 2.3
Thanks for the replies! I'll give it a try and see how I like the sound fitting it in between the nuforce and the m50s. I'll report back, hopefully with good news :]- USCdeacon

nuforce uDAC to Digizoid Zo 2.3
would it make sense to use the nuForce uDAC's passthrough capability to the digizoid, therefore bypassing the internal headphone amp completely?- USCdeacon

nuforce uDAC to Digizoid Zo 2.3
My current setup is a Macbok Pro -> NuForce uDAC (1st Gen) -> Audio-Technica ATH-M50's (I actually prefer my M50s to my TF10s with this setup. Am I crazy? :P). With that said, I've been interested in the DigiZoid Zo 2.3 - I'm torn. The Zo would function fine going in between my iPhone...- USCdeacon

[Impression] FiiO E10
I currently switch between a pair of M50s plugged into a nuForce uDAC (1st gen) coming out of my laptop. I've been on the fence on this one - would the E10 be a good upgrade? Decisions...decisions... Any help appreciated!- USCdeacon

The initial photo of our L9, the smallest L-TYPE LOD for iPod/iPhone/iPad
Quote: Nice! I plan on doing the exact same thing (iPod Touch -> L9 -> E11). Where did you already order the E11 from? -
Best place to buy an ATH - M50?
I got them from bhphotovideo.com (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/477843-REG/Audio_Technica_ATH_M50_ATH_M50_Professional_Closed_Back_Studio.html). I've bought a lot of photography gear from them before, and their communication and service is solid :]- USCdeacon

My New Project - McIntosh MC 2505 Solid State Power Amplifier
Brubeck sounds phenomenal through the McIntosh! Well, he sounds great regardless, but the extra "fullness" is something in itself :] What DAC do you recommend? Mind you, I just got out of grad school and am currently job-less so I can't afford anything too crazy :/ I'm applying for...- USCdeacon

My New Project - McIntosh MC 2505 Solid State Power Amplifier
Thanks JRG! I'm glad you came along :] I was just assumed I was double amping because the volume pot on the uDAC was changing the volume. Your explanation makes sense as the volume changes via the uDAC were pretty minimal. Head-Fi is awesome. I've read on some other McIntosh forums to...- USCdeacon

My New Project - McIntosh MC 2505 Solid State Power Amplifier
haha I can sense your excitement jumping out from your post :P I've been listening through it on & off all day and I'm appreciating the really "warm & full" sound I've been getting through it. I A/B'ed it with the uDAC's headphone out and the uDAC, though great, definitely sounds colder and...- USCdeacon

My New Project - McIntosh MC 2505 Solid State Power Amplifier
thanks for your input :] I was getting worried this would just end up floating down the threads without any responses :( the uDAC can act as a standalone DAC with coaxial out (S/PDIF) but unfortunately the 2505 only has a RCA stereo input. Would it works to get a coaxial splitter like...- USCdeacon

My New Project - McIntosh MC 2505 Solid State Power Amplifier
I've got to add... maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this amp is really noisy! I hear a lots of white noise during quiet parts of songs, during a classical guitar solo, etc.etc. :/- USCdeacon

My New Project - McIntosh MC 2505 Solid State Power Amplifier
My dad had a pretty nice speaker set up with his record player that I used to enjoy (and dance to!) as a kid, but ever since about 15 years ago, it's been collecting dust. I dusted off the amp and am trying to see if it will have any use in my new, computer-based, setup. It's vintage...- USCdeacon

E11, a new start of FiiO's portable amp ( added some real photo )
oh in that case, no worried :] Sound Quality is ALWAYS more important than a slight inconvenience :] Also, my concern is now void, since you mention that the line in is in fact in the middle. Getting more excited for the E11 :] Will there be a pre-order option? I'd hate for...- USCdeacon
