CanJam Chicago 2023 (June 24-25, 2023)
Hi everybody, I'd like to come on Sunday but I don't have a car. Is there a chance anybody is driving from the North Side or Evanston? I'd be happy to chip in for gas/parking. Alternatively, is there a better place to list this? Thanks, B- Akathriel

How many people here get irritated by 'normals'?
Those are overtly political questions so I am only going to answer the first part. I wouldn't have gone to school where I do if I didn't share those ideals in a very abstract way, but I am firm believer in engaging the system as it works and working from moderacy to those ideals through...- Akathriel

...even if you may be more cultured or educated than they are in certain respects. I will qualify this by saying I am an impetuous kid of 18. Can you do 40 push ups?
I'm not very athletic, but I can do 40 standard push-ups with ease. Some of the other physical fitness tests listed earlier are not really indicators of physical fitness; triceps and boobs are actually pretty useless except for looking good, although I agree with pullups. How about leg pressing...- Akathriel

Is the HE90 (still) the most detailed headphone?
I agree with catscratch. Granted I have never owned an HE90, but the Qualia tries to sound detailed. Its the first thing you notice since the midrange on Qualias is deemphasized and they might possibly have more HF extension than HE90s. The HE90s are sennheissers, they don't jump out at you but...- Akathriel

Opeth Through Two Paper Cups And A String (hater thread)
...your standard of comparison is leagues away from the artist's intent. This became clear when you tried to label Opeth as melodeath. It isn't ****ty death metal, YOU JUST DON'T LIKE PROG. WE GET IT. Your constant attempts to discredit it as such just make you appear incredibly narrow-minded... -
Opeth Through Two Paper Cups And A String (hater thread)
I'm an ex-opeth fan too, but I really don't understand what you're saying. I kind of feel like you might share my sentiments but I dunno... Opeth started out as a death metal band with proggressive tendencies, and sometime after BWP became a prog rock band with death metal influences. The... -
Any modern metal out there with singing?
Since post-metal is already being discussed, here's an interesting thing to think about. Most post-metal bands have two guitars, one melodic and one distorted rhythm guitar. Vocals are used rarely, mostly to emphasize heavy sections (ex. Panopticon). When I first picked up Rosetta's "The... -

Got any good Post/Sludge Metal?
DA: You'll probably like: Mouth of the Architect-Quietly The Ocean-Precambrian Rosetta-Wake/Lift Personally, I think that the Galilean Sattelites is a pretty mediocre album. There are only two really good songs, Departe and Itinerant and the quadraphonic thing is kinda cool, kinda...
