Closed back similar to HD598
Currently using HD598s, I like their sound however I'm also using them in a band rehearsal situation and they just let in too much sound to be effective for monitoring. I find the 598s very comfortable as well. I know there is the closed back version of the HD598 but they seem to be...- Rust In Peace

Recommended Earbuds for Small Ears?

HD598 upgrade
HE-400i is out of my budget, though HE-400s is. Having compared the Rotel to my iPhone 4 (same audiorips), they do gain a fair amount of treble and clarity on the iPhone surprisingly. Pretty much about where I want it, though I'd say they lack a bit 'fun' or 'excitement' to where...- Rust In Peace

HD598 upgrade
I guess that makes sense... lol Do you have any other recommendations to go with DT880s as well? Can you describe them a bit? possibly with reference to 598s if you've owned both- Rust In Peace

HD598 upgrade
I'll definitely take that into consideration but I've heard the Beyers can be quite fatiguing, not sure how true though.- Rust In Peace

HD598 upgrade
I have had my HD598s for a little while now and I am thinking about an upgrade, or at least another pair to compliment them. I quite enjoy the relaxed sound of the HD598s, especially for extended periods of listening, however I feel that it they are sometimes lacking in clarity. I don't want a...- Rust In Peace

Headphones and setup advice
My ears are somewhat small so they probably had a good seal From what I'm hearing, the 449 doesn't even come close the bass on the 598s. I guess it could be to do with the sensitivity though, since the 598s just seem so much more 'full' sounding overall.- Rust In Peace

Yep Really great, pretty impressed. A good step up from my HD449s for sure. They don't sound too different tonally actually, but obviously because they're both Sennheiser. There a number of differences, most notably a hell of a lot more bass and just a much more 'full' sound across all...- Rust In Peace

I have the HD598s now! They're pretty great :) I don't know why people say they don't have much bass, they have quite a lot.- Rust In Peace

Headphones and setup advice
The only thing is will the HD598s be a big upgrade over my HD449s? Otherwise no point in upgrading... I have read the HP200s are actually quite bright and fatiguing.- Rust In Peace

I've heard that about Grados. I'm kind of put off by that though. My speakers are bit like that; quite punchy and aggressive, so I'd prefer something a bit more relaxed for headphones to have some contrast.- Rust In Peace

Headphones and setup advice
Ok, I don't think I need one. The one on the SU-500 seems good enough. What else should I consider other than HD598s. In a similar price range there are some like Grado SR125e/i, Hifiman HE-300 and Beyer DT990 Pro. However, that's with the HD598s sale price, otherwise the HD598 is usually...- Rust In Peace

Headphones and setup advice
I'm quite sure that there is some difference there in terms of sound quality, though really inspecting it (of course with volume adjustments), it's probably unlikely that a more expensive DAC will make much more difference. I'm not a true believer in all that kind of stuff but I'm sure I have...- Rust In Peace

Headphones and setup advice
Sorry, I'm in Australia. Budget for headphones is probably around the price I listed for the 598s. DAC... well depends if I need one. The amp and TT will come later. To be honest I'm most keen about advice about the DAC situation. I don't want to waste money on something that might not make...- Rust In Peace
