1964 Ears
Ask 1964 to put your cell phone number on the shipping label, that way, customs will call you. For some reason, they didn't call me - they posted a letter instead, which probably slowed things down even more. They seem to be charging more fees than they used to, I had to pay GST of 15% and...- bbrunskill

Deciding between JH5 & 1964T, ready to buy
I recently got a pair of 1694-T - the sound is great. Very tonally balanced, nothing is too in-your face or overbearing - unless of course the music was mixed that way. Bass is strong and extends low, but it doesn't take over. Mids and treble are open and there's tons of clarity. I've read...- bbrunskill

1964 Ears
Quote: Hey man, I'm in Wellington too! You'll love your 1964's, I've had mine for over a week now and I'm LOVING them. . . Great sound and fit! 1964 took about 2 weeks to build mine. Total time from sending my impressions to receiving the IEM's was about 5 weeks. A week for...- bbrunskill

1964 Ears
Quote: Yeah, mine are royal blue with clear soft tips. I've heard of people painting a layer or two of acrylic nail polish on the their IEM's to help them a fit little tighter. Of course you'd be better to send them back if the fit is really a problem. I don't think mine need...- bbrunskill

Custom IEMs in Europe
Import taxes can be nasty too, I got hit pretty hard importing my 1964-T, an extra 20% in taxes. ACS is probably the most well known company in the UK.- bbrunskill

1964 Ears
Mine just arrived, basic impressions: Fit - Excellent - maybe very, very slightly loose on the right side but I'm not used to them yet, so I'll reserve judgment there. Comfort - Like they aren't even there. I can open my mouth all the way without loosing seal. EXTREMELY comfortable. SQ...- bbrunskill

isolation for drumming
I'm a pro musician, and gig playing drums at least a couple of times a month. I've used Sennheiser CX300, UE Super Fi 5, UE700, and various cans including Sennheiser 280PRO. I would say that isolation was very poor with CX30, and UE700. It's slightly better with UE super fi 5 and the...- bbrunskill

So what exactly is the point of BA IEMs with more than 2-3 drivers?
I've never tried anything higher than dual driver, but I do know this. The crossovers in IEMs are R/C networks - the most simple form of crossover circuit possible. And with a simple crossover like that, you get all kinds of phase shift, and harmonics and so on and on. So IMHO, I think...- bbrunskill

1964 Ears
Quote: I'll have a crack at answering your questions: From what I understand, you'll get a great, Hi-Fi sound out of duals. Triple Drivers are a similar sound with more headroom and a little more bass. Quads are even heavier on the bass, and have a seperate midrange driver. But with...- bbrunskill

BEST In-Ear Monitors under $400 for bicycling (no wind noise, no microphonics)
have you considered customs? 1964, alien ears and fidelity are all making custom IEM's under $400. Correctly fitting customs would give you the comfort, low profile, and isolation you're looking for.- bbrunskill

Share tips for "Custom Mold IEM" first timers here!
It's a little tricky, when you're not close to a recommended audiologist. Try checking out custom IEM thread for people who live in your area, and PM them to ask where they had their molds done. Make sure you take the instructions from the IEM manafacturer, and if the audiologist doesn't...- bbrunskill

Fidelity/Livewires Triple Driver IEM Reviews?
From everything I've read, 1964 ears are the best 'budget' IEM company. There's very few complaints of bad service, they have a reputation for good communication, and there's half a dozen positive reviews of the 1964-T and 1964-Q around here, so check them out. I've got a friend who had...- bbrunskill

NEW information on JH-3a
Quote: The only reason I would want a JH-3A is for the crossovers - far more advanced than the basic RC networks inside all IEM's, and WAY less phase shift on a digital crossover.- bbrunskill

1964 Ears
I sent my impressions from NZ, and it took about 9 days to get to 1964 in Portland. Anastasia emailed me to let me know that they had arrived, and had been entered in the cue. So I wouldn't worry - 1964 seem to be good communicators and from what I've heard, run their business well. I'm...- bbrunskill
