Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Good eye! The Shure still sounds decent but it’s nearly 9 years old. I keep meaning to get a nice MC cart but too many other things keep taking priority. I’ll get there one of these days. The Groovetracer platter and subplatter made a big difference in performance. Also got the upgraded...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I started with Yggy GS with Analog 1 and converted to the now discontinued Analog 2 OG. The former sounded great but the latter added a bit of warmth and perhaps better overall balance to the sound. I could’ve easily lived with the A1 but fomo got the best of me when I had the money. I have...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

No vibe issues due to no speakers hooked up yet. Everything shown here will be wall mounted eventually. Still building the room out.

😳 Nope. My brain would never let me get away with this. To each their own.

Clarity caps are great! The CMR series is excellent. Don’t use ESA / CSA for tweeters or full range. Their top end drops off quickly making high frequencies sound muted. But they’re fine for mids and woofers.

Yep. I forgot to add that.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Compared to film caps they add a haze to the sound. Someone else described it as holding the signal a little too long. Bypassing with a small film cap helps but for better resolution film caps are superior. If it’s a really large value you can bundle several smaller caps in parallel to reach...

Electrolytic caps should never be used in speaker crossovers. I mean unless you don’t care about sound quality.

Does anyone here have a Ragnarok 2? I would like to hear about any thoughts, comparisons, good, bad, etc.

When it comes to the appleverse, I rarely buy music on iTunes. If I do it’s usually a single that I cant get anywhere else. Most music I buy these days is either older music on vinyl or new music from bandcamp or directly from the artist.

Yes the tube gets hot but it’s not that dangerous. I doubt you’ll have to worry about your cat.

I find it funny how integrated amps don’t excite Jason. As a broke budding audiophile, integrated amps were the first step into better than average sound. Even just going over Ragnarok’s features peaked my interest in it again. It is a great design. (Although an updated version could include...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have been waffling back and forth about getting Ragnarok for a few years. Love the design. Love the stepped attenuator. I’m a little torn about input options but “Just an amp” for $1k is a great offer. Problem is I kinda sorta maybe don’t need it. But I kinda sorta still want it. At...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My father was a manager at AMC and I grew up riding in most of their 70’s lineup. My favorites were the Pacer and Gremlin. I’ve owned cars by Honda, Toyota, Dodge, Chevy, and Nissan. My favorite by far has been Honda. I just like the way they feel. Currently driving a C-RV Hybrid.

Or, and maybe I’m being too cynical about this, they have no imagination and everyone is just copying each other.
