V-Moda Vibe vs. Monster Turbines?
I had the MD Trib's and sold them in 2wks...I still have my standard Turbines though. (standard, not pro) The Turbine is on sale at Monster outlet for $49 for refurbs. Had the VModa Remix, not vibe. Gobs of bass, but artificial sounding...like the s4's. Bleh. Turbines are awesome for $49!!- chelboed

AKG Q460 anyone have experience with them?
Quote: I'd like to hear people's setup right off their heads and on to mine. It'd be interesting to hear what other people consider "good sound". I bet 50% of the population would listen to vandaven's setup and say it's too bass light. The other 50% would listen to mine and say it's...- chelboed

Portable Cans - K450 v ES55 v Image ONE... Or somthing else?
I tried Image One's and thought they sounded very fake and muffly. I tried the AKG q460's and loved everything about them except for a marked lack of bass. XB500's sound great on the low end, but mid's and highs sound artificial. I'm totally in love with AKG k518LE's right now. They have a...- chelboed

K518LE impressions
Yeah, I removed the foam too...moderate improvement over the already good sound. Clamping force: I agree that initially, they were a bit tight. All I did was bend the metal part out just a tad on both ends where the metal is exposed. Now they're just as comfy as my PortaPro's.- chelboed

K518LE impressions
I purchased these against the recommendations of some of my homies, LOL...I just had to try them. I got the yellow ones from Amazon for $45. As of late, I've been wanting a decent all-rounder that has a slight lean toward bass. Used to run a Dell Jukebox with Senn EH350's back in the day...- chelboed

Sennheiser HD25-1-II vs AKG K518 review
Got 'em from Amazon. I really like them so far. I'm getting much closer to what I'm really looking for after sifting through (buying/selling) MD Tribs, PortaPro, XB500, Turbine, q460, and a few others. They remind me of the Quincy Jones q460, but the bass is fuller. Not quite as detailed...- chelboed

would driver flex finally kill a pair of IEM ?
My standard Turbines do it. More on the L. than the R. I don't get what the big deal is...it doesn't affect the sound on mine. Definitely make that little clicky / popping noise, but no volume reduction or frequency range issues.- chelboed

Why is creating a playlist for a Rbox'd Clip+ so difficult?
Quote: Yah man...that's what I've been doing, but it's more of a pain b/c I can search with WMP and sync all at once versus thumbing through every folder I want and dragging/dropping each one. It definitely works...it's just a pain in the hiney.- chelboed

Looking to upgrade my Monster Turbines. Westone 3, UM3X, Westone 4, Monster Copper, Miles Davis??
I personally don't think the MDs are worth the price difference over the Std Turbine. I got refurb Turbines for $49 from Monster, & slightly used MD Tribs for 150. The performance distance is marginal, IMO. But hey...I like the sound of the Turbine.- chelboed

Comply Tips Review
Comply tips dropped my bass around -7dB. Sony Hybrids gave me the seal I needed and retained the bass. I read alot of reviews on comply tips and immediately bought them thinking they would solve my IEM issues. I was very disappointed in Comply tips. Sony's worked great. Basically just...- chelboed

Why is creating a playlist for a Rbox'd Clip+ so difficult?
I really don't get it??? Why can't I just create my playlist on WMP and drag it to my player? Who the crap has time to type out file paths for a freakin' buttload of songs just for a playlist? I still don't know how to do it and I've read the rockbox manual that was useless. ...- chelboed

AKG K518 LE Review

Compare k81dj to q460
I kinda liked the clarity of the q460, but bass was a tad weak. Will the k81 retain the clarity of the QJ but with more bass impact? (I'm obviously trying my hardest not to go all the way up to a full size...181 or m50 if I dont need to)- chelboed

Flat sound vs. "fun sound"...so flat isn't fun?
Problem with that mindset is that you can have a "good song" that is recorded suboptimally...but you can still enjoy it with some EQ tweaking or different transducers. Gives you the option if enjoying a wider range of music instead of just saying..."that song was mastered with a weird...- chelboed

Flat sound vs. "fun sound"...so flat isn't fun?
I just don't get this whole headphone review mindset of "these are great b/c of the ultra flat freq response". Flip side...these are fantastic because of the warm "fun" sound they portray...far from a flat response, but very desirable. So which is it? I hear people who praise the flat...- chelboed

EQ settings per song...does it exist outside of Android?
I like to use my Clip+, but I d/l'd PowerAmp for my Evo and use it with an E5. The nice thing about it is that when I play something like an 80's rap playlist with some LoFi and HiFi...I can set the EQ to be different for each song. I set it for a general good sound, but when I find a song...- chelboed

Loud, bass heavy, crisp sound quality, comfortable for extended periods overear and dont leak sound
You need nothing more than 20hz-20khz. And that's if you have perfect hearing. Anything lower/higher is inaudible. Quote:- chelboed

My old fav's from pre-Head.fi days...are now disappointing...
Yeah totally! I have been searching. I have run into some cool electronic stuff. Not fast paced drum and bass...but more "chill" slower paced music. I like the Rippington's. I have some nice Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. I have a smattering of genre's, but It's just funny how some of the old... -
My old fav's from pre-Head.fi days...are now disappointing...
I used to listen to music all the time. I took a hiatus for a while and got back into it with headphones. The funny thing is...now that I'm a little more mature and "into the sound" and dynamics of the production...alot of my old fav's have let me down. Prime example: I love VanHalen... -
Is IEM soundstage a myth?
I was trying out cans at BB the other day. I had my Turbines on OTW over there. As soon as I dropped a can on my head...any Can they had...it was immediately noticeable that the soundstage was much broader. Cheap Philips, Klipsch One's, Aviator's, the illustrious Beats Pro...- chelboed

Loud, bass heavy, crisp sound quality, comfortable for extended periods overear and dont leak sound
According to a post in the 74can shootout...the k181dj has more bass impact than the m50. Would they be a little more perfect for that than the m50? Quote:- chelboed
