Any difference between front and rear audio with the Asus Essence STX?
Just remembered this thread existed. Anyway, on my system I did notice a difference between front and rear ports. Rear sounds significantly better. One easy way to test it was the song Superman by Five for Fighting. The first 2 seconds of the song I can hear "one, two, three, four" when I was...- Sovelin

Audio Technica ATH M50 - Disappointed. PLEASE Help?
I really doubt this is an issue of low quality audio, sound signature, poor product, etc... The most glaring thing you stated was the onboard audio of your laptop. It is absolutely terrible. I don't even think it could power skull candy (brutally honest here). Yes, you would notice an...- Sovelin

Any difference between front and rear audio with the Asus Essence STX?
Don't you have other cables plugged into the back as well (monitor, mouse/keyboard, etc...)? Anyway, I believe it depends on your case. I notice no difference between the front and back on my case, but I know others who did notice a difference. You'll have to try it out for yourself to see how...- Sovelin

Looking for a decent, closed, portable headphone (sub-100 preferred)
Well, I pulled the trigger on the V6. From the reviews it seems like for the price they are excellent phones. Isolation is mediocre (but improves with the DT250 pads, which I'll get later), and it doesn't leak. Easily driven from an iPod and doesn't need an amp (unlike my 770 which sounds...- Sovelin

Looking for a decent, closed, portable headphone (sub-100 preferred)
Reviews seem pretty good. I've heard it doesn't leak, but it doesn't isolate well (especially low frequency). Might be an issue if I'm studying in a cafe (which I do frequently). Also, I can only find them at $90, and every review I've read has people finding them at $60. Maybe the price just...- Sovelin

Looking for a decent, closed, portable headphone (sub-100 preferred)
I own a DT770/80 with gel cups that I've had for 2 years now. It is my main headphone that I absolutely love! But just a week ago, I purchased the Asus Essence STX for my PC, and after listening to the 770 on those, I can never listen to them again on any other source. They just sound so bad...- Sovelin

Any difference between front and rear audio with the Asus Essence STX?
Thanks for all the replies everyone! I guess I'll just test it out myself to see if I can hear a difference. But right now it is connected to the back and I'm enjoying these too much to do anything!- Sovelin

7.1 virtual speaker shifter on asus essence stx
I recently installed my Asus Essence STX and the first thing I'm gonna say is: WOW! What a difference! Anyway, I'm using the sound card to power my DT770/80. The settings I'm using for musing right now are Dolby Headphone, and clicking on the music symbol. Music sounds great. But I have a couple...- Sovelin

Any difference between front and rear audio with the Asus Essence STX?
I'm not to familiar with how to do this. Is it an easy process? Does it affect the warranty? And is the SQ drastically improved?- Sovelin

Any difference between front and rear audio with the Asus Essence STX?
Quote: That was my worry, since it isn't a direct connection to the sound card. Kind of a pain to have to keep connecting my headphones to the back, but I prefer the purest sound. Can I leave the adapter plugged into the back without disabling the speakers, or do I have to pull that out...- Sovelin

Any difference between front and rear audio with the Asus Essence STX?
I recently ordered the Essence STX and am still waiting for it to come in. I'm going to use it to power my DT770 (which I've had for 2 years now, and I'm excited to finally hear what they are fully capable of). My question is, if I install the sound card and use it to power my front audio ports...- Sovelin

Will I notice a difference with a dedicated sound card?
That Fiio e10 looks so nice, but the price of the Asus is pretty amazing. Also, it doesn't take too much away from my funds, so I'll still be able to get my 3D vision kit soon enough. So long as there isn't a major difference in what I would gain between the two, I'll stick with the Asus. Thanks...- Sovelin

Will I notice a difference with a dedicated sound card?
Well, I will have $100 left over after building my computer. I was thinking either save 50 more and get a 3D vision kit, or put it towards a sound card if it would enhance my gameplay. I absolutely love the 770. They sound amazing, and have tons of base, which is nice when I game. But someone...- Sovelin

Amp for DT770?
Did either of you find a decent amp to power your phones? I haven't really looked too much, and was planning on getting a Zero when I came back to the US, but it seems like they've fallen in popularity. I still won't be back until end of April, so I have some time to do a little research...- Sovelin

DT770 Sibilance starting to drive me crazy
Haha, just got e-mails that I received a lot of responses to this old thread. The sibilance has actually faded with time, and I haven't even changed source or anything else. They still sound amazing from my MacBook Pro, even from an iPhone. I'm still planning on getting a DAC/Amp in a few...- Sovelin

Looking for IEM's between $100-150 on Amazon for gym/library
Most of their use will be in the library, where I am, for the most part, immobile for long periods of time. If they fall out while I'm in bed sleeping I probably won't mind (being asleep). But when I'm running, it would get annoying if they keep falling out (I can't run with iBuds for this very...- Sovelin

Looking for IEM's between $100-150 on Amazon for gym/library
Hmm, I'm actually liking the HJE-900's the most so far. Reviews are great, price is great, and the durability is a huge plus. I'll probably be very rough on these (I have a knack for destroying iBuds). And I like the detachable cord, which will come in handy when I inevitably fall asleep with...- Sovelin

Looking for IEM's between $100-150 on Amazon for gym/library
Currently I have the DT770, which I love, but they lack the portability I'm looking for. Also, it's kind of hard to work out with them on :) I'm looking for some decent IEM's that I can wear while going for a short jog, but I'll mostly be using them when I'm studying (sometimes in fairly noisy...- Sovelin

Significant audio improvement with Zero DAC on my MacBook Pro?
Haha, thanks for the clarification. I don't need to be able to tell the difference, but if I'm paying the same amount for a physical cd and a digital one, I want to make sure what I'm getting is the best sound. But if they're both gonna sound the same with what I've got, then I might as well...- Sovelin

Significant audio improvement with Zero DAC on my MacBook Pro?
iTunes Plus is 256 AAC. Lossless is, well, lossless. I understand the Zero would give me an improvement, but would it also make the difference between the two formats noticeable with my headphones, or do I need a significantly higher-fidelity (read expensive) system before I notice the bitrate...- Sovelin
