To be honest I did not know that they could vary. But even if they were different I do not think that this could ever make such an obvious difference.

Well, I don't know how many different kinds of HD 650s exist. And I never tried the HD 600 so I cannot comment on this one. But all I know is that some headphone geeks claim that there is an old and a new version of the HD 650 and that the old sounds darker, duller and in some way veiled...

I'm also a very satisfied Aeropress user. I use it with a Solis burr grinder and with a grind that's a bit finer than for drip coffee but not as fine as espresso and I get great results following the Aeropress instructions ... especially with nice some Guatemala Antigua from my local...

I received my D1 a few days ago and although I think it's a great combo (particularly with the HD650) I'm selling it right again to afford a big DAC. If you're interested please have a look at my offer. - Marco
