Grado e Series
I'm thinking of getting the RS1e's for it's apparent "smoothness", forgiving of poor recordings, while being fun/musical; all that. I have the LCD2 and find it a bit too harsh, and I'm not too into the puny soundstage. If accuracy makes it sound terrible than that's not what I want, in other...- Xero

Severely disappointed in the LCD-2; any recommendations?
I'm actually using the Sophia Electric Princess and 6FD7's. To me, the sound just loses all it's "oomph"; everything sounds really weak and almost distorted, even with the amp volume down. Soundstage seems non-existant. The same isn't true through the surround speakers. A sawtooth wave through...- Xero

Severely disappointed in the LCD-2; any recommendations?
I primarily listen to video game music FLACs and vinyl rips in 24/96 of progressive rock. While I can "hear" every detail of what's going on, the overall timbre of everything is very harsh and not pleasant with the LCD-2 with my dacport LX and Woo Audio WA6SE combo. In fact, using the headphone...- Xero

Help with picking a DAC (Metrum or MiniMax?)
This is my first venture in hi-fi so I'm going in this "deaf" when ordering all this. I've been dead set on getting a Mini Max Plus with dexa opamps for a WA6SE to LCD2.2 setup. I have the LCD2.2 already (amazing) and the WA6SE on the way. I'm second guessing myself all of a sudden as I heard...- Xero

Eastern Electric Minimax Tube Dac (32-bit dac)
Oh okay, I see what he's saying now. Would the stock singles go well with dual Dexas or vice versa you think? edit: weird that it's the first time I'm hearing about this. This article (http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/1212/eastern_electric_minimax_dac_plus.htm) talks about...- Xero

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
..started to make sense till about 1/3rd of the way through your post; lol. So are you sure this isn't a possible playback issue (like some thing wrong with ASIO, or the cheap headphone jack outputs/cheap parts adding the distortion, etc.)? Is it relieved a bit when using a proper amp/dac...- Xero

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
Quote: Holy ****, is there ever... over time these have really opened up leaving it playing music overnight and throughout the last two days. I switched over to my old speaker setup and wow, they sound so muffled, dried, etc.. I can't listen to music anymore without the LCD2 now! and this...- Xero

Quote: Lol nope; tried searching and found zero results for the 596. Guess I will have to deal. Lot's of conflicting opinions about tubes I see looking through this thread... I think this looks like I'm going to be spending quite a bit experimenting sooner rather than later. :/- Xero

Eastern Electric Minimax Tube Dac (32-bit dac)
Quick question for those with the experience; do the Dexa op-amps sound good with rock and metal? Just wondering if they're too relaxed. Not considering the Bursons ATM.- Xero

I listen to mainly 80's metal and 70's hard rock... how are the wooaudio.com's Sophia Princess and 6FD7 combo (WA6SE) with the LCD 2.2?- Xero

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

Just tried the LCD2's out of the headphone jack of my JBL receiver with iPod headphone jack connected to RCA connectors through an adapter and it sounded closer to speakers yet I still hear a surprising amount of distortion with the phones that I don't hear with...- Xero
