    The discovery thread!

It looks very solid and is almost exactly a Harman curve from bass to mid range to upper mid range. Look at Y scale, it is only 25db of range where most graphs have it at 50 and more. Having said all of this, this is probably just marketing. Still, quite sad that so many of you can't read graphs.

BAs have good treble on average but extension is much easier to do with a solid DD driver. In fact, there are just a couple of BAs from Knowles/Sonion that can even do treble above 10k and even then it's very hard to implement in a way that is both extended, smooth, not too strong in lower...

Sonion electrostatic is on soundlink. It's very expensive, maybe a single driver version won't be . Here is the link. How fragile is this driver for testing, removing and adding tubes, resoldering etc.?

Chinese / Asian Brand IEM Info Thread

I've been saying that Bellsing drivers are in some cases even better than Knowles ones. Everytime I said it people would dismiss it faster than it took them to read it. The only issue and reason why Bellsing has a bad name is because they are mostly misused without much thought in cheap IEMs...

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

Can think of 2 ways for fixing this, but it's kinda science fiction at this point. One would be to have a very small microphone in the nozzle that would measure reflected sounds from the eardrum and use an algorithm to create a custom dsp profile for a music source - this would be quite...

    Home-Made IEMs

I understand the logic of higher order crossover but I'd point out that there is a reason why you pretty much never see it in IEMs like phasing issues, number of components, fact that all modern drivers are full range with very consistent distortion for the full range of sound and probably more...

    Home-Made IEMs

I get what you are saying but there just isn't a way to have a perfect high pass. I've mentioned here before about how I use swfk and that is to use extremely low capacitors for high pass - 0.16uF or even 0.11uF for swfk. It actually still plays 5kHz and above and very strongly with regular...

    Home-Made IEMs

But there are some IEMs that have treble extension up to 20kHz (twfk and swfk can do this, though it's not easy to keep extension and reduce nasty peaks of lower treble, 4kHz to 9kHz lets say). Dynamic drivers are also very good at extending up to 20kHz, but they are mostly not as precise/fast...

    Home-Made IEMs

Start at 0.5uf and go lower, I am not even kidding. I am using swfk with 0.11uf, it reduces even high frequencies by a bit but it stops messing with upper mid range - and I'd argue that swfk is aboslute trash when it tries to do mid range in any way. As always, go by your own hearing, this is...

    Home-Made IEMs

Sounlink has their first Sonion, more to come for sure. Exciting times. Very good price compared to other shops and I expect it to go down to be similar to Knowles at some point...

    The discovery thread!

The best guess is a missing treble filter - which can be fixed with a bit of work. If one of the drivers isn't working, then you can conctact NiceHCK and Jim will probably send you a new pair. Unless this is the desired output, in that case RIP everyone who bought these. One more thing that...

    Home-Made IEMs

I have a question about Knowles GQ-30783. Does anyone know which drivers is it using? One is a standard WBFK but the other one is ED with a vent, meaning ED-26821 or ED-20805 (I guess, might be wrong). Is it possible to remove its crossover and add our own like we would with separated BAs? It...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Yup, you've damaged balanced armature(s). Sometimes, this can get fixed on its own after a couple of hours but most of the time it's damaged for good. Given that it's very noticeable in your case, I wouldn't hold my hopes up..

    Home-Made IEMs

Thank you for this list, it shows what I suspected for some time now: You can use pretty much any BA for bass or mid range or both. The only thing that matters is how it extends into treble to see whether you need to pair it with treble driver (and then it becomes important what you pair with...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Nope, it was a design from the past - the idea is to use longer cable behind your neck and short one regularely. There are many IEMs that used this. Sony MH1c for example - good sound but terrible J cable (and it's also flat which makes it even worse).
