Why no love for headroom amps?

I own three different Headroom amps (check my profile) and love the way they sound and look.  One of these days, I hope to find a Balanced Max at a reasonable price to add to my collection.   http://www.headphone.com/pdfs/BalancedMaxAmpManual.pdf

    Sennheiser HD600 Discontinued (?)

Amazon no longer has them in stock.  They are only available through 3rd party sellers now:    http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Dynamic-Professional-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B00004SY4H/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327542231&sr=8-1   It is a little disappointing because I was hoping to pickup an...

Closed cans for a Sennheiser HD 600/650 fan

I am looking for some closed cans to use in the office that sound similar to my Sennheiser 600/650 cans at home.  Comfort is more important than isolation or leakage.  Open cans are not an option though.  I am using the following setups at home:   Oppo BDP-83 > Headroom UDAC/BUDA/DPS >...

The Ultra Desktop DAC (UDAC) is BACK! Taking Pre-Orders

I have been using the UDAC also with the BUDA and DPS for the past few months.  Here are my questions:   1. How does the UDAC handle 88.2 and 176.4 sample rates?  Obviously, there are no sample rate indicators on the front but does the UDAC accept them in their native format or what?  ...

Simaudio Moon 100D DAC vs. Musical Fidelity M1 DAC?

I found a review of the Simaudio 300D which is the big brother of this DAC.  They both have the same Burr-Brown PCM-1793.   http://www.uhfmag.com/Tech/Moon300D.pdf

Simaudio Moon 100D DAC vs. Musical Fidelity M1 DAC?

I am also looking for some impressions on the Simaudio DAC.  I was drawn to it because it has sample rate indicators for all standard signals from 44.1-192 kHz.  This is useful as a diagnostic tool if nothing else.

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Nope.  The headphones felt a little tight at first but now they fit like a glove.  My point was to try them for a while and don't be in rush to bend them.  Let's agree to disagree.   Quote:

Quote: I disagree.  Bending the metal may seem harmless to you but it makes a picky buyer take pause.  They may not believe that the metal will bend back to the original shape and give the same clamping force as a new pair of headphones.

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

The 650 feels tight compared to some other headphones when you try them on but after a few weeks they fit like a glove.  I prefer to take off my glasses when I wear them though.  Since I usually close my eyes while listening, this is no problem for me.  YMMV.   I would suggest resisting the...

    The Stax thread (New)

How comfortable are the Stax 404?  Here are the headphones that I have owned listed from most comfortable to least:   HD-595 HD-650 AH-D2000 Beyer DT880 AKG 701   I currently own the 595 and 650.  The others were sold or returned due to their sound or comfort issues.  I am...

    Headroom Ultra Desktop Review

The Max DAC does not use the ESS chip.  The ESS was only featured in the now discontinued UDAC.  The UDAC was introduced at the same time as the BUDA.  There is a thread in the HR forum that explains why it was discontinued.   By the way, I have a BUDA connectected to a Marantz SA-11S1 and...

    New Marantz SA-8004

I would avoid the Oppo if you are thinking about SACD.  AVSForum has a thread that chronicles the issues many users have experienced with this player.
