The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

V5 has more airy (space, sparkling high) than V5i. For Lovely cube make sure you order Dual version. When install it, you might want to remove the DIP8 socket come with V5.       You also might try the Cable +, they use V5i inside so it will further improve bass weight.   BTW, if you...

The "Lovely Cube" Headphone Amp (Lehmann Black Cube Linear Clone)

Without op-amp I'm pretty sure headphone out will not work, but not sure preamp mode.   When install/replace op-amp, you must make sure: - Type: dual - Max voltage support: for Lovely cube should be >=15V - Direction: half moon mark (or pin 1) - Space

Asus STX II Vs Creative ZXR

IMO, op-amp in buffer section of ZxR will have significant impact sound signature. So if you have limit budget, you might try with 2 single discrete op-amps in buffer and Cable +, this option would be better P/P upgrade compare to 2 single and 2 dual.
