Asus STX II Vs Creative ZXR

My experience with Burson Opamp in all chain: ZxR --> Cable + --> Lovely Cube
- HE 560: too much bass for my taste, I've to remove V5 in the Lovey Cube
- HD800: WOW

More wondering if theres a opamp combo that would fit in the ZxR(so V5 is out) that would complement the Sennheiser HD 598's well and make up for its most commonly cited shortcoming with bass.

You might try V5i (single) version in buffer and Cable +.

V5i also improve bass weight as V5

Hello,

Well at least what's your forvorite card ?

By the way, for headphone output,  :
 - 4 opamps for ZXR (2 for buffers, 2 for I/IV)
 - 3 opamps for STX

Can I use the same OpAmp between STX and ZxR ?

By the way, what's for your the best price/sound op-amps :
- muses8920 (x4 or x3) ?
- 2x LME49990MA and LME6172
- JRC 4556A (x4 or with others ?)

Thank you in advance

Regards,

As I said you you need to use single channel opamps in buffer section for ZxR. For I/V both card and STX buffer section you can use same dual channel opamps.
The best for start is to see what are best (and best buy if you don't want to spend much) opamp combinations for each soundcard.

So ZxR w/ V5i's > STX 2 w/ V5i's as well? What about with the budget solution proposed by raymond for them?

So I take it the Xfi titaniums no longer a contender then? Recall someone earlier in the thread asking if it was worth upgrading to a ZxR from it and someone told him no.

And is the ZxR greater just from a hardware perspective or are its software features also better? Or do they both have roughly equivalent game-oriented surround sound software like dolby headphone and the like?

Just wondering about this one?

ZxR with Op Amp Upgrade >  STX 2 with Op Amp Upgrade?

Is the consensus that the Burson V5 is the top, although V5i is cheaper?

Then for those on a budget, Nec UPC4570c is the best "cheap" option.

Come to think of it, has anyone tried the DEXA Dual Special Edition?

They are a bit more than $40 USD right now (on sale) for the DUAL Special Edition:

Hmm, the top is arguably between the Burson V5 and the Sparkos Labs SS set, then the Burson V5i, then the rest. Probably the V5, SS, V5i, etc.

I've not used the Dexa.

Thanks.

It doesn't look like anyone in the thread has tried the Dexa. Tried browsing the Op Amp thread.

Is there are consensus between which sound card is better after the  upgrades?

Asus STX 2  with Burson or Sparkos versus  Creative ZXR with Burson or Sparkos? I think I read that  Creative ZXR + Burson V5 is considered better than any combination (Ex: Asus with either and Creative ZXR + Sparkos), but I would like more thoughts.

Hello,

im sure I'm not the first one who asked this question...

But which card should I prefer right now? ZXR or STX II :D
(I'm planing to upgrade to burson V5i if it's worth it?)

Main usage would be: Games, Music and Movies (Blue Ray)

Headphone: Beyerdynamic 880dt (600 Ohms) (In future I will do a upgrade)

Thanks in advance!

BR,

irii
