14awg or even lower AWG number for “no regerts”. Canare 4s11 typ sold by the foot at Markertek, redco in the USA (seek out canadian broadcast av suppliers for reduced cross-border costs??)- tincanear

Congratulations! how much paternity (family) leave does your son (the pilot???) get? (note: topics below totally unrelated, but #$@^ head-fi consecutive-posting-lockout..) @Lavcat might be dangerous (to your wallet) to listen to a Yggy in your system. @sixergixer octal LISST with an adapter...- tincanear

@ArmchairPhilosopher if an FB module is moved from one device to another, does the FB app automatically recognize the new device? Is a Scan or reset necessary?- tincanear

Imho, HDMI is a recipe with too many cooks (unstable, poor interoperability esp mixing older & newer devices) Use an HDMI audio extractor with USB UAC2 PCM or AES or coaxial S/PDIF audio output and feed that into a DAC (Mimir / Gungnir 2 / Yggdrasil+)- tincanear

For the existing Unison USB input using Type B connector, try a standard off-the-shelf USB2.0-rated cable with thick (low AWG number, #20 or #22 if possible) power conductors before spending more. IMHO no need for 6N copper or soild silver conductors here. Also, there might be a new Unison 384...- tincanear

Presumably, next-gen Bifrost will allow re-use of the expensive slide-in analog (both OG & /64 variants) and OG isolated Unison USB cards. Recently, sometime after the FB announcement (can’t find the exact post(s) on this thread) Jason had talked about some sort of BF2 FB upgrade trade-in...- tincanear

If this is a yggy+ ((thinner GS2) chassis, it might already have a universal rom (those are typically unlabeled???) if not, you can get one from schiit directly info@schiit.com. Rom for GS vs GS2 might be different also- tincanear

It might be possible  to build passive stereo-to-mono adapter cable but requires true balanced source (both phases active & gnd referenced) and downstream device with true balanced inputs, e.g. skoll to freya in active gain mode. Directly shorting the left & right outs together is not...- tincanear

If the PCB is phenolic (typ for pacific rim mfg products of that era) and not epoxy-glass (usa almost always) it can be damaged by too much heat. A tech or EE would be your best bet even though you have ample time being almost retired and all. Offer IT services in exchange for repairing the...- tincanear

Saga2 should have both xlr and rca outs active at the same time in active lo and hi gain modes. not sure (best to check with info@schiit.com) if plugging in headphones into Saga2 will mute both the xlr & rca rear outs. If your headphones are iems or high impedance dynamics (e.g. senn, beyer)...- tincanear

at least the hum & noise is reduced via the new LC-2 interconnects, and adding the Jensen xfmrs with short xlr cabling to each Tyr does not worsen the Hf roll-off. so, is the HF roll-off in the preamp, the source, or the interconnect? was a function generator used, or CD / wav files into the...- tincanear

How about modifying the existing starquad cables (remove one RCA, replace with XLR) to tie cable shield braid and one phase (e.g. both blue wires) to RCA shell, both wht wires to RCA center on source end, and use 3 pin XLR on the load end (cable shield to pin 1, blue wires to pin 2, wht wires to...- tincanear
