    Holo Audio May DAC Speculation

I haven't experienced any hum, no. I did experience a kind of static energy coming from the top of the DAC unit, after it was on all night, no music playing. I could feel the static as I moved my hand over the top. May also serves as an excellent hand warmer, ha! It went away when I started...

Burson Soloist 3X Performance Head/Pre Amp - 8Wpc XLR with MUSE72320 volume control

Thanks for the feedback. I would imagine your Spring DAC is more neutral, so it's really more an issue between amp and your drivers. Have fun experimenting with the Sparkos opamps. That's the beauty of the Soloist design, that you can alter the sound quality a bit to find that sweet spot!

Burson Soloist 3X Performance Head/Pre Amp - 8Wpc XLR with MUSE72320 volume control

Do you run your Spring KTE through the Soloist? If so, how's the sound, any brightness?

Feels like you are right there in the studio, right next to these incredible musicians, huh! The realism of the May is amazing. Momentary Lapse of Reason is one of my favs. Alan Parsons produced Dark Side, love Alan's work too. :-)

Have you listened to Money since you are a Floyd fan, as recommended by the reviewer "New Record Day"? The 1981 version is awesome as well... Amazing!

Thanks. What I heard wasn't as harsh as the OP heard, but I think it was also heat related. I've heard others report regressions in sound, so the simple fix is to just give it periods of rest. No need to push the burn-in, just enjoy the ride... :-)

    Holo Audio May DAC Speculation

I've experienced what Flextreme experienced in this post... Did you eventually find nirvana? After 4 days or so playing a variety of music 24/7, I heard a regression in SQ. I turned it off for a night, SQ improved and the burn-in continued. It's going to be a long long 500-1000 hours, but...

Burson Soloist 3X Performance Head/Pre Amp - 8Wpc XLR with MUSE72320 volume control

Excellent, and looks like your experience was the same as the OP. Good to know that Burson is standing behind their products! Now, if we could only get them to produce more of the Soloist or come out with a Soloist 3X Reference, ha! Sadly I tried ordering from Bloom, only to have my order...

Happy to share experiences... Tidal can sound very good. MQA is another subject, and I don't use that part. I prefer Tidal to Amazon Music with some music... I haven't tried Qobuz yet, but I hear some prefer that service to Tidal. If you use Windows, you might want to consider dual-booting...

Burson Soloist 3X Performance Head/Pre Amp - 8Wpc XLR with MUSE72320 volume control

Thanks, makes sense. I read that criticism of this pairing and wondered... Reminds me of that incredible Alan Parsons' song, TURN IT UP! :)

    Luxman P-750u headphone amp

Been a long time since any activity in this thread... Could anyone who has or had the Luxman P-750u comment on how that went for you? I'm comparing the Luxman to a Sparkos Aries. Any input is welcome. :-)

Burson Soloist 3X Performance Head/Pre Amp - 8Wpc XLR with MUSE72320 volume control

qsk78 and BattousaiX26 Living with it is definitely an option. I don't remember where I read this, but a guy got a replacement for this issue, and he said the new unit's volume was linear, not jumpy. Just passing on what he reported... If I come across this again, will post a link.

Burson Soloist 3X Performance Head/Pre Amp - 8Wpc XLR with MUSE72320 volume control

You are fortunate to have such great amps at your disposal. I like your thinking! :-) Considering the lower cost, the Soloist is hard to beat. I read somewhere that the jumpy volume control was a faulty volume controller in some production run, but I haven't confirmed this. You might check...
