shielded vs unshielded XLR input jack - when should I use 1 over the other?
not enough difference to worry about. Remember to connect pin #1 to the metal chassis at the connector. * * * * * * * * although the metal ones will connect the cable connector shell to the chassis (so added shielding).- Speedskater

Cheap RCA Cables vs Expensive
with 15 meter (50 foot) long RCA interconnects there will be differences in background noise levels. With 1 meter RCA interconnects, it's doubtful. But for interference problems, length isn't the big factor and the cheap ones might do better. -
Why Audio Science Review's measurements are so different compared to other sources?
As the types of tests that Amir uses are the ones available in Audio Precision test equipment and similar to the tests done by others with skill, I would trust his measurements. The 'Audio Science Review' forum is open to discussions about suitable test protocols.- Speedskater

Extremely sensitive to sound
Hiss is often a 'stage gaining' problem. That's when the level controls for all the stages are not set to their best position and one stage needs to do a lot of amplification.- Speedskater

Can I/How do I paint a Schiit Amp?
Take photos of each step of the dis-assembly, so later you can put it back together. In the Fall you might get a high school auto shop to paint it.- Speedskater

Extremely sensitive to sound
You are not the only one! Now that I'm old, it's only the low frequency noise (that others don't notice) that bothers me. My wife has one of her mother's wrist watch's. I make her keep it in a drawer in another room, so I don't hear the ticking. In the pre-CD era, I would go into my buddy's...- Speedskater

Topaz Low-Capacitance Isolation Transformers - for Affordably Clean Power
a little "Kill-a-Watt" meter (or similar) will do a good job of measuring power line Voltage, Current & Power. with any DMM if you measure before and after the isolation transformer, most of the meter's errors will cancel out.- Speedskater
