Impressions of Focal Spirit Professional?
So it seems that these cans have been out long enough now that there should be some good comparison / impression threads, but I'm not finding anything. I use & love my Focal CMS50 studio monitors & would love a similarly voiced set of cans. Right now my primary set of closed back cans are the...- silence2-38554

Best headphones in price range of $150-200
I love the SRH840's & they sound great powered from an ipod, but man do they look goofy. The radius of the headband is just so big, they may be a tad awkward to wear around outside... I just have them for studio use.- silence2-38554

HD380 vs. HD280
The 280's are great. Just picked up a well used pair for a whole $15 because after comparing them to the 380's, I prefer the sound of the 280's. The 380 sounds very similar to the AKG K550 to me. Very detailed, but awkwardly distant. Some may perceive this as a "wide" sound stage but it's...- silence2-38554

SRH-840's Flimsy?
I'm not sure what the other poster was talking about concerning listening to metal with these, but in my experience they can not be beat! I have gone through numerous AKG & Sennheiser cans, these smoke all of them for metal, hands down.- silence2-38554

SRH840 or HD598?
I have owned both of these. I still have the Shures. But then again, I listen to mostly Rock & Metal. I could see the Senns fitting your style of music well.- silence2-38554

Best Headphones for Rock, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Metal, Heavy Metal, Glam Metal, and Vocals.
I listen almost exclusively metal & am finally content with the Shure SRH840's I haven't had a chance to try Grados, but as far as closed back cans go, I love the Shures.- silence2-38554

Shure SRH840. Impressions & it's awful headband!
Nah, since I've only had them for a couple weeks I'm just going to exchange them at guitar center.- silence2-38554

Shure SRH840. Impressions & it's awful headband!
Has anyone else experienced a frequency imbalance between channels in these cans? I think I'm looking at exchanging mine with another set because the low end on the left is significantly more pronounced than on the right. I have tried flipping the phones around on my head as well as comparing...- silence2-38554

Shure SRH840. Impressions & it's awful headband!
Yeah, I considered something like that except I used to own a set of 770's & did not like the fact that they were not at all foldable. In fact, once I get the comfort / weight issues of the 840 resolved, I may see if there's any way to modify the swivels so I can swivel the cups flat like the 940.- silence2-38554

Shure SRH840. Impressions & it's awful headband!
Kim- Yup! JUST like that (you're the other member I was referring to in the OP). That's great to know that installing the 650 headband will reduce the radius. I ordered the 650 headband a couple days ago & has a 3-4 week shipping estimate I'm super excited to get this project underway...- silence2-38554

Shure SRH840. Impressions & it's awful headband!
A couple weeks ago, I picked up a set of SRH 840's & absolutely fell in love with their sound. I have been searching for my ideal closed headphone & sound-wise, the 840 is it. I will most likely be selling my AKG K550's. Although their build quality is outstanding, I hate their fit & they are...- silence2-38554

Another "Best headphone for Metal "
Hey so yeah, I'm gonna go ahead & reply to this super old thread & say that the Sure SRH840 is the best headphone for metal. Done. I have owned / tried: Beyer 770 AKG K550 AKG Q701 AKG K240 Sony MDR-7506 Sennheiser HD-280/380 Sennheiser HD-558/598 The sennheiser HD-558 was a fairly close open...- silence2-38554

Best headphones for mixing Metal & Rock music?
I picked up a set of Shure SRH840's & absolutely love their sound. As much as I love their sound, I hate everything about the headband. It's too heavy, uncomfortable and too wide (looks super goofy). I was debating back & forth between these & the Sennheiser HD380's. After listening to the...- silence2-38554
