What is the approx battery life per charge of each HD bassed MP3 player?
Surprised nobody really mentioned coding impact. Most battery life specs seem to be quoted at 128Kbps. I code at 192Kbps and as your hard drive's accessing more frequently you get a corresponding reduction in battery life. On my Zen Xtra I think I'm around 12hrs- Sidney

Buying Nomad Zen Xtra 30GB
Had my Zen 30Gb Xtra for a couple of months now and absolutely love it! Just took it for it's first international trip, battery life great, sonics superb, plenty of gain, very happy. I've read about some having hardware problems on CNET but I baby this thing and don't bang it around. So far so...- Sidney

best portable headphone other then ksc35 ?
Can't comment on the "progressive muting" discussed previously, but I do like the Senn PX 200's. I also like the sound but not necessarily the fit of the KSC-50's- Sidney

KCS 50's Anyone Happy?
Just today I was thinking that out of all of my headphones (Senn HD580, Ety ER4S, Senn PX200, Senn MX500) the Koss KSC-50's are probably my favourites at their price point. Great balanced sound, full bass, clear highs, good mid range, no bloat. Only thing is due to my ear physiology I get this...- Sidney

DoZ Amplifier
Just finished building a Rod Elliott DoZ Headphone Amp (http://sound.westhost.com/project70.htm) . No real engineering brainwork here thanks to Rod and his generous sharing of design work. Details: I used Rods PCB's, they're tiny and well made. All transistors were matched for gain, with the...- Sidney

Cap question
It usually means two electrolytic caps in the same can. They usually have three terminals, generally a common negative and two positive terminals. Hence XuF on one +ve terminal, XuF on the other +ve with their negatives tied together at the third -ve terminal. (Double check the pinouts on the...- Sidney

How to correct the imbalanced stereo pot?
Sorry no hard and fast answers. I just finished building an ESP DoZ headphone amp that sounds spectacular with my HD580's. Had the same pot problem, so for expedience I ended up building my own from a RS Dual 100K linear pot and a couple of 15K 1% resistors. It's perfect, it's inexpensive and...- Sidney
