These responses are fascinating, thanks. I'm loving exploring music at this depth, haven't had the opportunity prior to investing in hi fi equipment. Have only recently discovered Jazz to be honest. Now i find it to be some of the most moving music i own. Thanks, will continue to research and...

    Powered monitors driving my phones?

Thanks for this. It's all a bit new to me and get a bit confused by the terminology. I'm looking for new PC speakers generally and don't just use them sitting in front of the PC, like to listen in other areas of the house as well. I haven't heard these but were the only ones in local shops at...

    Powered monitors driving my phones?

I'm looking at some powered studio monitors for use with my PC. I'm looking at 2 that tell me i can plug phones into. The more expensive pair have DAC. Will this get me by for my PC use. Will the DAC make a big difference?

    non leakers

yeah cheers Was thinking of geting a dedicated amp to go with a pair of open phones (maybe HD 650s or some audio technica but now this is out of the question (until i move), am looking at some that can be run from my headphone jack on my receiver instead i guess. I'm assuming headphones and...

comfort is also a factor. I have some cheap ass sennheiser's at the moment and they clamp my skull a bit too hard. It'd be nice to wear something that i wasn't so aware of. cheers

I'm after headphones that don't leak too much. I don't have a seperate listening room so would be sitting maybe 1-2m from my girlfriend while she watches tv. I was heading toward some open phones before this reality dawned on me. I'm wondering.. Are there open phones with minimal leakage that...

    a stupid question

Okay i'm going to come out with it.. Many a thread says that you need a powerful headphone amp to run Sennheiser 650's (for eg.). Why? Why couldn't my av receiver which drives some demanding speakers, be able to get the most from these headphones? I just can't get my head around it...

    Recommend me 1st headphones

I'm looking for phones to be driven by my NAD T773 Receiver for a broad range of music. I'm after detail accross the range. I want to experience the best of my jazz, acoustic and soul collection and still want to hear the bass present in the hip hop, blues and rock and electronica i listen to. I...
